Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.
One thing I have learnt from living with old people, especially your grandmother, is the fact that you will know almost everyone's secret, especially her children's. The painful part of it is that you dare not say it out to anybody.
I live somewhere in the western part of the giant of Africa with my grandmother who has six male children and a daughter. Out of the seven of them three were already married and one was about to, so he came to visit us to inform his mother about his intention.
The movement uncle Goke came I rushed to the kitchen to cook for him but I could hear his conversation clearly from where I was. My grandmother started the conversation asking him Goke, this your visit is unusual hope all is well? My uncle responded saying all is well mum, I came to inform you about my intention to get married.
At the completion of his statement, my grandmother stood up and started dancing without drum or music because she was overjoyed. After a while she asked who the bride is, is it someone I know, when are you bringing her to me, have you two agreed on a date…………. Uncle said mummy calm down, I will bring her to you by next weekend, we haven't picked a date for the wedding yet but her parents want to meet mine first so by the end of the month we would be going to see her parents.
After a while eating and talking it was evening and uncle Goke finally returned to his house to revisit next weekend. My grandmother made sure we clean the entire house in preparation for receiving her daughter in-law to be and truth to his words, uncle Goke brought her all looking beautiful in her caramel skin and long black hair and also soft spoken.

Good morning ma she said, greeting my grandmother on her knees. Good morning my darling, stand up and have your sit please said my grandmother. After discussing for a while she called me saying aunty Moji let's go to the kitchen to cook for everyone then I followed her like a teddy bear because I wanted every opportunity to admire her beauty.
Grandmother and some notable people in our family went to make their marriage intention known to her family and a date was agreed on for their engagement and traditional marriage to be held in the North Central part of the giant of Africa. The agreed date was during the dry season but we had to travel anyway.
On getting to their village we were too exhausted to do anything so we just went to bed. The following morning when it was time for us to take our bath, we were all ushered to the streams to bathe. The stream has two private sections meant for adults male and female and one public section for children.

When our other family members were talking turns to bathe, myself and some other children bathed in the stream for almost one hour non-stop because the stream water was cold and refreshing. I had almost forgotten that we came for my uncle's engagement ceremony.
For once in my lifetime, I wished I could bathe in the stream everyday but that is not possible because we left the village as soon as we concluded the engagement ceremony we came for. That was how aunty Moji became my uncle's wife and my aunt too.

Bathing in the stream. It seems fun although I have no idea how to swim nor have I bathed in one before. But judging by your story it would be a nice experience. Thanks for sharing
Yes it is, thanks for stopping by
