False Freedom

When we hear the word 'freedom', I'm sure a lot of us would define it differently because of course, this phenomena would mean a lot of things to different people but however, my mind went back to the definition I was given at a way younger age and I just began to question it all. I was told that freedom is a state of total independence from someone or something thereby giving you leverage to do whatsoever you choose whenever you choose to. I went a little further to consult my dictionary and as expected it concided with this definition cause it clearly stated that, "it is the condition of being free, the power to act, speak or think without externally imposed restraints". Now while I don't oppose this definitions of the term freedom, I can't say that I entirely agree with them either.

The truth is humans are not actually 100% free, as a matter of fact, life force in general isn't entirely free. We must always be tethered to someone or something..... knowingly or unknowingly, forcefully or willingly. Take the plants and animals for example, they undoubtedly answer to us, we to some extent, determine when, where and if they grow and die. Alas, they are tethered to us as we have been made masters over them by the one who created us all.

When I say we are being enslaved, I'm not talking about the enslavement of the old times when humans were bound hand and foot as sold to highest bidder or begrudgingly had to call their buyers master. I'm talking about emotional, spiritual, psychological, moral and national cages which believe it or not, are worse than being literally locked up as it affects the entire human race.

From birth, we were born slaves to our Adamic and carnal nature. As we grow, we are bound to our parents overprotective rules and regulations. As we get older, life shackles us with different trials and temptations set to make us drag our feet, weaken us, bring us down to our knees. So tell me, is this really being free?!. Most countries live under the term 'independent nations' but they are dependent on other countries to foot their economic bills due to the fact that their leaders are tethered to their vicious, corrupt, greedy, bloodthirsty warmongering desires and yet people hop about every independence day singing songs of freedom. I tell you my friend that a lot of us are still nationally chained and true freedom is literally out of our reach.

When someone lives in accordance with their sinful nature and dances to every tune on the devil's soundtrack, believe it or not, he's a slave to him and truth is, the devil is not a gentle slave master, nor does he like to relinquish ownership rather, he loves to be in control of anything and anyone he was lucky enough to steal from the creator. Don't think believers are left out on this, they have their fair share of slavery as long as they're on earth. From the fear of not being enough to serve God, to being continuously whipped with tribulations that tend to remind them of the past when things were "better" and they weren't fully into Christiandom. Some of us get a bit of respite when we read the word and know that these are all the dirty works of the temporary ruler of the earth to frustrate the believers and enslave all of mankind. Every right thinking person knows that yesterday cannot be better than today because today is a product of yesterday. In other words, every new day gives birth to the plan that was conceived the previous day.....good or bad and it would be a huge error for your past to be better than your present.

Personally, I'd rather work with God because with him, while on this earth, I have tasted a semblance of actual freedom, he's the only one who gave me a choice with the promise of reaping the fruits of my labour in the end than to work for satan and suffer the consequences of what he made me do because he can never offer anyone a choice.

No matter how hard we search, true freedom cannot be found in this world that's based on falsehoods. To find it, we have to leave this sphere. There's a saying that, "a troubled mind finds solace in death" but I think that's only 50% true because where you spend eternity determines whether you're actually free or not as I genuinely think that true freedom is residence with the creator after death.

My definition of freedom, is a state of being able to converse freely, living in peace, bliss and harmony with my creator. A time when evil will be abolished from this world, not living in fear of Satan or his adversaries, a time when I won't be tethered to anyone or anything, living in perfect peace and harmony with the rest of the world without the influence of any corrupt government. This to me, is the true definition of freedom and it's all bent on making the right choices in this life.

So tell me, what is your definition of freedom?.

I never really thought I was free. In fact, i feel one can only be free when he surrenders himself. I can’t fully explain this but, true freedom to me lies not in this world or the things of it, but in the very thought of another existence. True freedom is tethered in that which can’t be seen.

Oh this was beautiful Dera -- I was just thinking in how to answer her post and I was thinking that surrender is freedom. I have found it recently, and it's very freeing.

I agree, it exists but I know it's not here on this earth.

Recently I've found surrender as freedom -- because to truly surrender then you go 100% against the grain of society.

And society is highly constrained and controlled.

Surrender.....in all aspects or in a particular sense?

To a higher purpose :)

Being free for me means making your choice amidst the different circumstances and influences and being responsible for that CHIOCE.

We can’t truly have complete freedom unless we lose ourselves to someone or something greater than us to lead the way. But the question is, is that the choice you and I are making?

This question has me pondering a little hard to be honest. I do agree that choice or the ability to choose rather is in it's right an element of freedom but what happens when our choices put us in a position where we absolutely lose the element of choice?. What if in getting lost to that higher force, we lose ourselves in the process?.
Thank you so much for your contribution, it is greatly appreciated.
