Today in the United States we celebrate Labor Day. In fact, this whole weekend wraps a lot of significance into a few short days. It's pretty weird that on a Monday morning I am sitting on a couch writing a post versus sitting in my office. It's also a bit weird that I am writing this post so late in the day. Usually between 6:30 and 7:30 I am crafting my words and then by 7:30 they are published on the blockchain.
Instead, this morning I slept in, got up and went for a mile walk with @mrsbozz, and then spent the morning in the kitchen cooking breakfast and doing dishes. It's a bit weird to just be sitting down at 10:00 AM to write my post.
As I said, this holiday encompasses a variety of things. While the official reason is to celebrate the economic and social achievements of the American worker and to remember the struggles and hardships they overcame to get us where we are today, it's pretty rare the number of people that actually celebrate that.
Instead, for most people as @ericvancewalton said in his recent post, this is more about the unofficial end of summer and the start of a new school year. Despite the fact that many of my family and inlaws are union employees, and I do appreciate the five day work week that the unions fought for, this is just more of a three day weekend for me.
I find myself thinking a lot about HIVE this morning. Apparently there has been some more drama in the ranks. It would seem a day doesn't go by that I don't see someone complaining about the community, downvotes, upvotes, fill in the blank... It's sad for me because I really hope and believe that HIVE can be something awesome.
It kind of reminds me of the omelet that I have been sharing photos of in this post. I've been working on making a good Omelet for close to two decades now. They truly are a labor of love and if you get just one thing wrong, you basically are just having scrambled eggs for breakfast.
That's what I discovered this morning. I finally got a pan that I think will do the trick, I watched the guy at the hotel make my omelet dozens of times, and honestly, this is the closest I have come to making a perfect omelet. That flip was brutal though. As soon as I tried to flip the eggs and toppings over, things just fell apart.
I think we seen that a lot in HIVE too. People try to flip or pivot. They move away from what they enjoy or what brought them here in the first place and then boom they end up with scrambled eggs. I'll be the first to admit, I have chased upvotes. I won't deny that at all, but for the most part I blog about what I enjoy blogging about. As a lot of people say at the end of their blog posts, my content is my own and I am dang proud of it.
I'm not honestly sure where I am going with all of this. I think my mind is still in vacation mode. As I said, writing a post from the couch puts me in a totally different headspace than doing it in my office.
I guess what I am trying to say is although HIVE can feel like a second job at times, I really love this community and what we have built here. I hope that eventually we can find an end to all the drama or at the very least some kind of detente, and we can just move towards building this into a community that people want to visit every day.
If we put a lot of love into it eventually we will get it right and have the perfect omelet and not just scrambled eggs.
My mother made the best omelettes and I can make a pretty damn good one too, but I have to be in the mood to make one, as daft as that sounds!
Practice makes perfect as they say. Ah the Hive drama, I learnt if I want to stay here then I have to zip my mouth lol.
Yeah, I agree, I just kind of keep my head down and do my own thing. It seems to work out well for me. I hope to get it right one day. I think I had too many toppings this time and I needed to thin my eggs a bit more.
Have you ever bought an omelette pan?

Yes! The flip part is hard! Lol.
The intention changes a lot of things. Love makes it beautiful even with its imperfections.
!PIMP
For sure!
The omelet looks great. I didn't know people had theirs with cheese.
And I hope you enjoyed your labor day
Thank you! Oh yes, cheese is an absolute must!
Making a perfect omelet is a challenge and takes a lot of time, dedication and love. I also hope we achieve that in Hive, more unity and less drama, it is not easy because there will always be differences of opinion, but we are a great community that has shown that it can survive despite adverse circumstances. We continue to bet on this ecosystem because it really is wonderful. To grow and move forward, that should be the focus.
Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better than I haven't been able to get it quite right yet.

Hive is for sure a labor of love, you just have to have the right mentality to it. I think we can sniff out the fakes and people get mad about that. Granted there’s plenty of bullshit out there as well but the cow has been milked for so long that it’s a little easier to spot those coming for a quick sip without plans to feed the cow at all.
It’s funny I’ve been pan frying eggs for a few decades myself now and I’m pretty good at it. My wife on the other hand is fucking atrocious at it lol she’s tried to make it for me and my son a few times and it always comes out shit. The pan fried egg is my ultimate breakfast, with some spices on it and cheese, on a nice slice of toast, deliciousness!
That does sound like an amazing breakfast!
Is that mango or papaya in your omelet?
yellow pepper.
It already is. People just can't see past their own noses a lot of the time.
Beautiful omelet you made. Happy Labor Day to you in America. Yeah, it is painful to put in so much effort and feel ignored. Hive is a beautiful place that has real connections when compared to web2 platforms. I have also learned a lot about crypto and writing better.
I think that it's just a bit too strict in dealing with certain issues, but then again, it's to protect the space and keep it clean, I guess. They just need to apply a little love to make it more HOMEY.
Yeah, I can see why some people do what they do, but others don't see it that way and it jus leads to drama. I think in some cases a little bit of grace on all sides would be a good thing.
Maybe applying patience and compassion would also help. We all come from different worlds, with varying levels of understanding and exposure.

Conflict often gives the illusion of meaning, we shouldn't avoid necessary conflict, but most of it isn't (necessary). Compromise, de-escalation, and reconciliation are often much more productive but don't raise the heart rate or initiate the cascade of neurotransmitters.
I think the way people react to stuff on HIVE often puts them in a worse place than if they just let it go.
It's hard to believe how different life was for people before the unions fought for fair wages and a 40 hour workweek. There were fair and generous employers but they weren't the norm.
I don't have my ears to the tracks anymore when it comes to the Hive-drama but I've seen skirmishes here and there over the last few months that make me feel uneasy. The vibe is reminiscent of the year leading up to the Steemit hardfork. If we could, somehow, move beyond that as a platform I think this place could be great for the majority of users. The framework is already here and it's proven to work if we could just move forward with enough unity and consensus that the platform isn't driven off the rails again. I prefer the perfect omelette to scrambled eggs. : )
As I only know Hive that is really interesting to hear and at the same time quite sad.
Things got really dicey in the year leading up to the hardfork. A big part of that was driven by the Steemit founders back then. It was very sad to see people who had invested so much time and energy into the platform leave altogether. A lot of the true-believers migrated here to Hive. Over time, I think, people just develop fatigue from continual drama and disharmony.

I know, it's hard to imagine what we could be if we could all agree on something, but I guess that is true of a lot of things right now isn't it? I appreciate what some of the bigger accounts do to fight the abuse, but the sense of entitlement and a lot of other factors just make it difficult for some common ground to be found.
Even if we could meet halfway and compromise on things, this is how the world used to work. Divisiveness is precisely the problem with everything these days.
I read an article recently about soft succession here in the US. It was quite interesting. I guess it's already underway. The Democratic governors are meeting regularly together to figure out ways to self-govern independent of the Republican leadership in Washington.
The author of the article believes this could lead to a full-on succession that would look like something similar to this map. Honestly, considering the striking differences in ideas and opinions this is the only path forward I see unless some miracle happens. I'm working on a post about this very thing now.

Interestingly running a project made me pivot into the unfamiliar, and the last three years have been.. crazy to say the least.
But now, I'm pivoting back into what I love and sparking off something spectacular :)
Exciting!
Happy labor day1 I think I'm way more productive on Hive when I'm away from home since I agree sometimes it feels like a second job. Just to let you know the flip is all in the wrist for omelets!
I'll have to keep that in mind with the flip. I want to get it right eventually.
that was such a sweet post :)
i love omelette and my uncle who was a chef taught me to never battered the eggs too much , just few seconds.
yours looks delicious and really perfect.
as for HIVE we all feel the same in the brotherhood , you can also read my last post about astro, it really is the change now and we reconnection is so necessary.
stepping away from battles and arguments and grudges.
we have an immense beauty of being in cryptos all together and bringing to eachother so much knowledge and experiences ..and differences.
beautiful post for the flame ❤️🔥
Thank you! You are too kind about the omelet. I know it was far from perfect, but it tasted pretty good!
I missed the drama this time. I guess there are some advantages to having become much more busy lately and having almost no time for Discord.
I'm still on Discord but I don't interact as much. I'm just kind of meh right now.
Just an addendum, you're cooking me inspired to make an omelet for lunch. Not as complex as yours, just mushroom, jalapenos, cheese and eggs! It came out pretty good! Still not perfect either, but it tasted good and that's what counts! lol

Yours looks much better than mine!
Hive is awesome. It's just that when people are around other people there will be disagreements. On your block, with HOA, in your building, in the office, in your city...
That's what we do :)
Some talk about it like adults, some go to social media to vent and some declare war.
We'll get the omelet; the perfect one; we just need lots of eggs.
I think there will be the people who will always keep creating and keep their heads down, too. :)
I hope you are right!
It’s true that when people try to change too fast or for the wrong reasons, things can fall apart. I think the best part of Hive is when people just share what they enjoy, like you said.
It might take time, but if we keep at it with patience and care, maybe Hive can grow into something strong and lasting, just like that perfect omelet you are working toward.
I hope so for the sake of HIVE. It seems like a lot of people are always leaving.
Good for you, sleep in and take an easy morning. A little exercise, make an attempt at an omelet (mine usually comes out the same so don't feel bad.) I've found that at times it's easier to make a scramble and call it good!
Hive can have a bit too much drama, I agree. I write more about things I enjoy now than I used to and it's more fun. I do my best to avoid the drama because I do have enough issues in my real life to add to my stress levels... Enjoy your Labor Day and I hope you have a nice relaxing day. That's the plan I have too, maybe grill up a burger later and work on a couple writing projects I've been procrastinating for far to long. Or not... Like I said, I plan to relax!
I ended up throwing a round of disc golf with my buddy in the afternoon and then I grilled some wings on the kettle.
That looks like a mighty fine omelette to me @bozz. I must start making them myself. I was always a bit dodgy about them as I am not a big fan of egg white but love the yellow which is strange. I started eating them lately so I'm learning to like them. I haven't heard about any Hive drama but I am not on Discord much and this is where most of it happens. heard something small about Leo posts getting downvoted but are they not on their way to Thorchain. Anything like this gets messy unfortunately as one can argue that they are draining value from Hive onto another chain etc etc. You can see both points.
Thanks, it didn't turn out perfect, but it tasted okay. I can't really complain about it. I try to state out of most the drama, but it still sucks to see there is such discontent.
Looks like delicious.
Imagine with this jewelry, it would be better.
