I don't even know the best way to start this; I just feel bad-parenting isn't just about those who neglected their kids, who didn't take care of their kids, or those who spoiled their kids by doing everything for them and making everything available to them. What I'm saying in essence is that a lot of parents have been a victim of bad parenting at one point or the other. I'm not saying that all of them are bad parents; I'm saying that all have at one point or the other gotten things wrong too.

When we say bad parenting, what comes to mind most times includes some of those things I listed earlier and more, like a child growing up without love, guidance, support, and the like. Or when a child constantly experiences abuse, comparison, and the like.
There's a saying that goes, "Charity begins at home." It means the home is a child's first school and learning place. The way he/she gets treated at home matters a lot. Take a child who grew up living in fear and finds it hard to speak at home, for instance. What kind of adults do you think he/she will grow up to be? They will definitely find it hard to speak, to talk about their feelings, and to even trust people.

But then again, I don't feel bad parenting should decide a person's future forever. I know it can leave deep scars, hurts, and the like, but a child can choose to be different. He/she can learn, unlearn, and relearn. I say that because I've had my own fair share of experience too, even though mine was not really about that, but I've experienced a lot in life, I've walked in dark rooms, rooms I thought I wouldn't come out of alive, and I'm glad I did, when I did, I'm sure no one will blame me if I turn out bitter and uncaring, I'm sure everyone who know my story will understand that it's because of what I've had to experience, but guess what, I refuse to allow it define me, rather I choose to be more loving, caring and kind.
So, we can choose differently; you can choose to break the cycle; you can choose to not treat your own children the way you're treated.

Just like something I do tell people close to me, that we all have our intentions in our minds in the first place but we just had to place the blame on a third party's advice we got because it turned out bad.
The fact that someone grew up watching his dad beating up his mum does not justify him to beat up his wife too if not that he's also a fellow animal cos he's even supposed to know and determine that his own wife must not suffer what his mum suffered from his dad.
So no matter the parenting, either good or bad, we still have our choices at the end of it all.
In btw...... That first picture 😉
