UNBELIEVER

I am more likely to doubt what I hear on social media even from a verified source. As a social media manager, I have seen a lot of showbiz to believe whatever I see on social media and for that reason I tend not to follow the hypes or trends except I am doing it for promotion. I decided long ago that it was best to not be emotionally attached to social media activities after I caught someone who I believed in red handed doing something I never imagined. This wasn’t a matter of me expecting too much from them, it was them doing the very thing they fought against.

It was during the END SARS movement in Nigeria, one of the activists who rallied a lot of people against the government on social media was just a puppet serving his master's goal and not really doing so because he believed in what we were fighting for. There is this popular politician in my city, who likes to live low key when he is around. Luckily I have a friend who works as one of his chefs, and when he (the politician) is around they do not go on leave until he leaves the city. After the politician left, my friend came back and I was talking about going to the protest he is organizing.

My friend told me not to go because it is going to be a blood bath, seeing how sure he was of it I asked how he knew and that was when he told me that The activists who is leading the protest would not even be there because he met with the politician in his house and they both agreed that the plan was to send thugs for that protest. He just needs to rally the people as their agenda was to use the incident to make the current government look bad. Two days later, it was exactly as my friend said. A blood bath that claimed lives. It made me wonder, what if I had gone because I believed the words of an activists on social media.
