Moving forward isn’t something that usually comes easy for me, I remember how I started out in this industry, I did not start as a pro, or with any certification, in fact, I was a school drop out who was learning graphics design before that time. If there was anything I had at that time, it was guts. I knew I needed a job, I also knew I needed the experience of an office job, I was a 21 year old school drop out who was trying out his hands on things professionally and I knew that the only way to do it was if I could get the opportunity to work in a reputable company. I got the very first job I applied for and it did not come easy.

Everyone in the company was a graduate, but apart from the MD, no one knew that I wasn’t a graduate. I learned not to talk my age, I learned to talk like a pro, act like a pro and work like a pro. It made my colleagues respect me, and even my boss. I remember during the interview I applied for a social media position and told the MD who interviewed me personally that I have been doing this for three years which made him intrigued. In truth I had been managing my social media account and trying out different jobs for the last three years. I gave myself a brand name and put on my CV that I have been working with that brand.
When the MD asked why he should pick me over the rest of the graduates he has, I told him I have got the experience and I’m ready to grow on the job. I also ran ads for the company services before coming for the interview from which they got clients and when I showed the MD the result, he was more than convinced of my ability. I guess one could say I had a bit of luck too, but then I do not still know where I got the guts from.

It seems you were guided by a part of yourself that knew exactly what you needed to do to land that position. You also had the right attitude to earn respect, in addition to the knowledge you acquired on your own. Earning the respect of others is important, and you've done it.
Excellent post! Hive is the best social network in the world! Unfortunately I could not vote at 100% because my voting power is low.
