LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD

Back at home, dad would always come back home with a new calendar towards the end of every year and he always made sure that we keep the calendar moving with every passing month. My dad was so intentional about it. Thinking of how my dad would flip the pages of the calendar to a new month, just like that, we will likewise be flipping into a new year in less than few days from now.

I had so many goals and targets I had set for myself and it’s totally a thing of joy to make a review of my performance so far. I had goals and aspirations at the start of this year and in this post, I will be sharing with us what those goals were and how many of them I was able to conquer. There were a lot of lessons learnt too but that would be a story for another day.

Before the start of this year, I have outlined a few things that I’d love to accomplish this year and I remember struggling with myself whether or not to set goals (I’m actually so poor at setting goals most times). Anyways, I still set those goals for myself. Some, I wrote them down and others, I set them for myself along my journey through the year. Overall, it was a really good year for me even though I thought of giving up the most this year.

My plans for this year included getting a new phone, getting into the university, living a healthier life, and along the line, I added the goal of getting a birthday gift for myself. And for my hive goals, I planned to achieve a hive power of 8.5k, make a post daily and also not to leave most, if not all of my comments unattended to. While setting these goals for myself, I had doubts about achieving them but I still tried to prove those doubts wrong.

I was able to get myself a new phone in the second quarter of the year. My aim of getting a new phone was greatly achieved. Now, I hardly make use of others images because I now take most of the images myself. Just like some others on hive, I prefer using my own photos and that is because I believe it gives my post more relatable feel than using other images.

I was able to get myself a birthday gift too. This happened in the third quarter of the year as my birthday falls on the month of August every year. About a month to my birthday, I wrote about my wish of getting a teddy for myself as a birthday present since I didn’t have the opportunity of having one as a child. Someone was kind enough and gave me some HBD to save up for it and after some weeks, I was able to get myself a nice cute teddy bear. The fact that I got a gift for myself, helped me expect less from others because I already got what I most wanted.

On the aspect of living healthier, I was able to do some homework-outs and also eat when I should and eat something good too but that could only last for a while. School stress kept getting the best of me and I couldn’t just meet up taking my overall health seriously. I was overwhelmed at some point and I just lost track of everything. Right now, I’m still looking for a way to make things better and I will appreciate some suggestions. Based on this, you can rightly guess that I was also privileged to get admitted into the university.

As for my hive goals, I was able to accomplish most my goals despite the huge set back I faced at some point. I couldn’t make a post every day of the year but I have had months when I posted all through and that is still a great accomplishment for me. Replying to others comment according to my goal, was the only thing I could do consistently. I didn’t have so much time to engage as I would love to on others contents but hopefully this coming year would be better.

So far, I’d say this year was a great year for me. The setbacks, just like a catapult only propelled me even farther to achieving most of my goals.

Thank you for reading through. ❤️

The beauty in setting a goal is when you look back at it and realize that you were able to achieve most of it. That would motivate you to do more.

I am also motivated by your post. Nice one 👍

I doubt I was able to meet with any of my goal or remember any of them but it's always nice to see someone striving to meet up with thier goal. Probably I will set one for next year with the whole challenge am facing now God will help me see through
