Happy Friday and First Day of Spring!

It's hard to believe the spring equinox is already upon us here in the northern hemisphere. For those south of the equator welcome to fall! This year really has been flying by as we are heading into April before too much longer. Here in southern California it already feels like summer with nice warm days and the mornings are perfect for coffee in my backyard. It's a great time of year!

Yesterday my neighbor invited me over to his house to try out a new bottle of Scotch he had picked up. Since we're both fans of the beverage I never turn down good Scotch, and Glenlivet 18 years old is never bad! It was excellent by the way! While in his back yard I noticed he had removed most of the plants from his plantar boxes. The only thing left was the broccoli although severely trimmed back. He is starting everything over this spring, except the broccoli. I've never grown broccoli so I snapped some pictures, pretty tough looking stuff!

I have taken a few days off of Hive this week, having other things to attend to in life. It's funny how a week I had left completely void of scheduled events quickly filled up with things that needed attention. I had hoped to work on some projects waiting in the queue to be completed, maybe this weekend...

In the world of cryptocurrency things have been interesting this week. Bitcoin put on a nice show with a push up above $75,000 and then came the drop once again. At least things are holding onto the $70,000 level and seems to have some solid support at that benchmark. Maybe all of the gloom and doom predictors calling for $35,000 in the near future have it wrong? I hope so, with all the ETF's and corporations holding it as an asset the dynamics are very different than other cycles.

Maybe the crypto winter won't be so dark and long after all? I always hope for the best but plan for the worst...

Hive continues to hold on just above six cents. There was a brief surge with BTC, but followed by a deep dive just like BTC. I'm still worried that we may be seeing drops into the five cent range in the near future, or possibly even lower. I sure do miss the good old days of sixty cent Hive last year... I'm still surprised to see the APR on HBD at 14%, I thought by now more witnesses would have pulled in back down to 10-12%. In reality it probably needs to be even lower to slow debt accumulation and further Hive inflation.

I'm not even going to talk about the DHF funds problem that has yet to be addressed. The one thing I always recommend is to support the Return Proposal increasing the threshold that a proposal must pass to get funded. At least we aren't seeing any more charity proposals anymore!

Invennium Comes To An End

This week Aggroed announced that Invennium would be shuttered immediately, meaning Arcade Colony is no more. Sadly I had quite a few assets in Stake House Den and rather enjoyed the casino gaming. Moon Karts is also no more along with some of the other games. Fortunately, Splinterlands is still hanging in there.

While there is a desire to bring the projects back to life at some point, I will believe it when I see it. Far too many gaming projects here on Hive have bit the dust this past year including dCity. I'm not sure if the play to earn genre is strong enough to survive, and the best days may behind us. I do hope I'm wrong, but it does seem that these games are vanishing faster and faster.

Precious Metals

Gold and silver have had a tough week, and have been declining since the beginning of the Iran conflict. It seems that there has been a lot of profit taking place as well as market manipulators doing their best to suppress prices. At this point I'm not sure where prices are heading and expect nothing but volatility for the next few months.

I am a silver and gold stacker, meaning that I will tend to keep what I buy. I buy for the long term hold vs those who do short term flips to make a quick buck. So in the larger scheme of things it doesn't affect me, but it does give me a chance to pick up some silver less expensive. Silver is still in high demand, and over time prices are likely to go up.

If you don't have your own personal stash of gold and silver, I recommend you start one. Precious metals have been money since before recorded history and always will be. It's a safe haven you can keep safe for yourself and family!
