We Have Spent Let Us Recover

The Christmas period is over, or should I say the holidays are over, let us remove all these decorations because things are now becoming serious. It is not new that Christmas season is the actual season that everyone is always anticipating all year long. I can guarantee that some are already thinking that what the could not buy last Christmas they will this 2026 Christmas which is in my opinion awkward. Christmas is just a few days of the year just like every other regular days, but some take it farther than that and set it as a period of assessment to measure achievement, while aome see it as a period of enjoyment like no other. These are few of my observations

1) Excessive Spending: The Christmas season is now like a loop in some people's life. A loop in the sense that some people work Mondays to Fridays, starting January to December. Out of their earnings they still save from January to December only to squander it in the last month of the year. Then have a fresh beginning again. They have been caught in this mentality and it is disturbing. Imagine having enough in December and having nothing in the next month. That is why many will say that January is longer. This is basically because they have spent too much.

2) Excessive alcohol: It is no news that most people especially the youth drink to stupor this season. Some will take eleven (11) months and twenty four (24) days to stay away from alcohol only to scatter it on the twenty fifth (25), get high that they might even affect their internal organs.

3) Risking Their Lives: This is a good season to see close friends and families. But, not at the detriment of putting ones nuclear family at risk of road accidents and kidnapping. The insecurity in the country is scary, and the road networks are not encouraging as well. So, therefore seeing of families if necessary can be postponed till every noise is reduced.

I resumed work this Monday and the first thing I said was, "Please let us remove these decorations as things has become more serious". That is the truth of the matter as holidays is finally over
