While I was searching for some good posts for the @Ourpick curation project, I bumped up on the post by @behiver, where he tried to answer the question of Hive blockchain is a hobby or a business... I found that more as a personal question as I'm not sure that there is a straight answer, and as many times, there are no right or wrong answers... Inspired by that blog, I would like to ask you... What is HIVE for YOU? To begin a discussion, I would try to answer that question from my angle...
As a matter of fact, I have already begun my answer in the comment on that post... As the author gave two options, I tried to "fit myself" in one of those two, but without success... Why's that?
As for the definition of hobby (an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure), maybe I could fit HIVE into that, but... I am doing HIVE for pleasure and I do enjoy content creation, engagement, live meetups, discussions, support, etc... But, it says in "leisure time" and if I would count all my time spent on HIVE as a leisure time, I would be a definition of a laziest person ever! π Also, a hobby is usually done in free time, occasionally, and I'm on HIVE almost 24/7, so, I can't count it as a hobby!
There are 2 definitions of a business... One says "a person's regular occupation, profession, or trade", which maybe I could fit HIVE... I do regularly hang out on HIVE, it is like my "profession" (a Hivian! sounds good π), but... The second definition ruins this theory... It says "commercial activity", which is partly true... You can earn tokens on HIVE with actions that you take here, so it can count as "commercial activity"... My personal problem with this is, that I do accumulate my HivePower, and I do earn tokens by creating content and engaging with others, participating in different L2 projects, etc., but on the other side, I very rarely take profit from it!
With the first theory, I was probably the laziest person hobbyist, and in the second theory, I'm the worst businessman on HIVE as I don't take profits for it... π
Maybe @behiver's reply to my comment can be acceptable as an answer... For him, HIVE is like a digital home!
I would go a step further... Just a few days before, we had the #HHHLive show where the special guest was @hallmann, and we were discussing Hive and The Kingdom... As I was at that place, I would say that HIVE is a digital Kingdom Without Limit, a meeting point for people who like to share, learn, and grow! It's like a big antheap where everyone is working for the benefit of everyone...
Or, even better... Hive is a big (bee)hive! There is no better definition than its own name! The place where bees are working, living, gathering, growing, interacting, taking care of each other... It is exactly that for me! The (starting) meeting point with other Hivians, before our journey together to the future!
Choo choo! All aboard!!!
Let's see the WorkerBee Pool numbers for this week...
This week we have mined 114 BEE tokens in total... Good job!
For the second week in a row, we have a new delegator! Welcome, @hindavi to the pool! Nice to have you here!
As usual, we got more delegations from old members... Thanks guys! Appreciate your support!
This POOL doesn't have fees and you get up to 20% MORE by delegating to it!
What about the bonus tokens?
I have to admit that I haven't paid attention to the LEO price movements lately, but when I checked it today to enter the values in my report sheet, I saw the huge price movement today! I mean, it is a "violent" day in the crypto world, but the LEO price lowest and highest price had almost 50% spread! What that could mean? There is not enough liquidity for the "needs of the market", which further means more volatile price action! That works in both directions, but with a nice big, fat, buy wall, it could mean upwards action! Will that happen or not, I don't know... What I do know is that I will give away some LEO tokens today as bonus tokens for the pool delegators!
There will be distributed 42 LEO tokens to the delegators of the pool as a bonus reward today!
As always, in the end, let's give the exact numbers for this week... 114 BEE tokens and 42 LEO tokens will be distributed as a bonus... The APR (without the bonus) was 8.712%, and when we added the bonus it went up to 10.399%!
I have calculated the ROI approximately with medium prices for all tokens at the moment of creating this post... So, those numbers are valid if you bought WB and sold BEE tokens at the middle HiveEngine price...
Do you want to sponsor the PH-Pool with your tokens, receive a short SPONSORED segment in this post, and raise awareness about your front-end or dApp? Please let me know in the comment section, or contact me through Discord or Twitter and we will find the best solution for both parties...
If you want to join the WorkerBee PH-Pool, the only thing that you have to do is to STAKE tokens to YOUR account and DELEGATE your staked WORKERBEE tokens to THIS account (@ph1102)! Every week you will get your portion of mined BEE tokens and BONUS rewards!
.:. DO NOT STAKE TOKENS TO MY ACCOUNT!!! Just DELEGATE! .:.
If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section!
You can find more about this pool in the initial post here https://inleo.io/hive-119826/@ph1102/workerbee-p-h-ool-let-s-help-each-other

Just recently, Hive is like a therapy center for me.
!LOZ
Oh, that's nice to hear! And I think that you are not the only one that has that point of view... Many people are writing as a therapy... Or engaging as a therapy...
And it helps to gain perspective and reflect afterward.

I think "digital home" seems quite fitting for me too. As I tend to see Hive as a home base in this vast digital landscape. Activity wise, I think it's a bit of both, a hobby and a business, which perhaps, it's the real beauty of this place, it can have a fluid meaning depending on the angle you look at it from.
Seeing all these comments from different angles, we are happy to have so diversified place where everyone can find something for themselves...
It's more than just a hobby, because you won't get addicted to a hobby. You don't try to be consistent with a hobby. To me, Hive is an opportunity to reward your passion and your contribution and that's why I accept that it's truly a digital home when there are many ultra-realistic possibilities
That was exactly my point of view when I was reading behiver's post! But the term "digital home" is probably repeated the most in this comment section... Nice description!
Haha.. All of the above to me! I think these days, everything is sort of mixed up together, especially when it comes to social media. So I think it's everything that you described above. Of course, primarily it's still a hobby if I had to pick one.

I'm not sure about other social media, but I'm happy that we have so many different possibilities on HIVE! πͺ
Finding refuge from the merciless crypto charts in the middle of a bear market, with the desire that Hive BC will be the location where I will place some of my interesting photos, thoughts and experiences.
That's what I was looking for when I heard about Hive.
I've already had several situations where I'd rather take and search for some photos from my travels on my profile than search through different galleries on discs. or recommend a craft beer that I liked, without searching the Internet...
And by the way, it happened that I connected with some Hivers and now Hive has become my favorite network for engagement.
It's not a hobby, because I want to be present every day, and it's not an obligation because I want to. It's not a business, because I wouldn't be able to survive on the few $ I collect daily (and I also have a job that takes 10 hours every day). Hive is the path I want to follow for a long time, and time will tell, in what direction, speed and with whom π
Well said!!!
You did it in reverse order compared to many of us. Most people came to this blockchain at the top of the crypto markets, when posts payouts were some crazy numbers... But you did in the opposite way, in the bear, to find a shelter in a cruel red chart... That's so cool and probably more powerful! You will see your earnings (and accumulation) going up, while the rest of us saw mostly the downtrends... π
A digital home... a digital beehive... π
I've also seen a lot of downtrend... the truth here is very small, not even 40-50%, but in general, on all crypto wallets..π€£
At its best, it can be an oasis, an escape from a world of censorship and manipulation. But it's not always at its best...
There is also the financial component, and as such, it may be a safety net, and I've seen people use it as a last resort of funding. But maybe this can grow into something bigger. Not sure about this in strong economies though, but for example, I heard bitcoin is accepted as legal tender in Lugano, Switzerland (I haven't checked myself). Maybe that's a start...
I guess these can be 2 sides of Hive that I resonate with. There are others, but I'd rather not make a full post about it, lol.
It is, in countries where every dollar means a lot! But, luckily, the financial side isn't the only advantage of HIVE!
And I do agree about this... We need to work on that...
Yes, Hive has become part of my life in the last seven years, but I can't say it's business because if it were, my family and I would probably die of starvation. I'm kidding, but to be business to me, I'd have to make a lot more money here.
In one way, it's a hobby because I do it in my spare time, but mostly because I do other things and post about them.
The best expression I can think of is that Hive is something like "Dulce et Utile," where I combine the pleasant with the useful. Yes, that's it. π
Hahahahaha.. That made me laugh... π The same goes for me! π€£
I like that! It is pleasant and useful!

@ph1102! @seckorama Totally agrees with your content! so I just sent 1 IDD to your account on behalf of @seckorama.
Thank you for mentioning and rewards my pleasure to be here. I work in the medical field but maintain a balance in my life, which means I am not a workaholic. I engage in activities that I enjoy, including food, travel, art, adventures, and culture, In my spare time, I focus on my hobbies. When my husband introduced me to Hive, I became interested in using this platform to share my creativity and take on new challenges. For me, it is both a hobby and a stimulating platform. But now, meeting new people, I enjoy myself. If I become a business lady here I will buy more worker bees sure about that.
Nice article. Greetings for new week :)
That's great to hear! The point of HIVE is exactly what you described, to stimulate your grey cells, meet people, and have fun!!
Thanks for joining our small pool! Have a great week!
To me, Hive is a Digital Diary. A journal of immutable creative history. At times a family scrap book. At times comedy, poetry, fiction, music⦠i literally dance around and make my digital footprint. My Own Buttcoins Piggy Bank of Gamified Blockchain Brainstorms.
Awesome! It's amazing how everyone has a different interpretation of HIVE... Even with your long list what it is for you, for others is something completely different!
That's the beauty of HIVE... There is something for everyone! πͺ
I guess it's a hobby for me, but it's more than that. I have made a lot of friends and travelled to new places to meet them. I was blogging before, but never got much engagement. I feel that I found a community here. Okay, so I do earn too, but it's not life-changing (yet). Eventually I hope to make use of some of these funds, but will keep building it up for now.
I hope to see many more businesses on Hive and I will use that suit my needs. I did just buy more coffee from @whiterosecoffee, but not using crypto.
That's the beauty of HIVE... You come for one thing, and you stay for 5 other things... π I remember that I joined the chain because of Splinterlands, and today, I'm doing so many things and at least playing Splinterlands... :)
It is more than a hobby, less than a business, but all about community and people!!!
It is a circular economy in some way... From Hivian to Hivian... π
To me, Hive is more of a community that I feel comfortable to be in. It's different from the other social media sites
That's what is very interesting to acknowledge! Despite occasional discussions, debates, and some downvotes, it is still better than any other social media network!
It is like that joke, when they stop you at the border to ask you
Business or Pleasure.?
Answer is both. :)
hahahaha... I always say pleasure... as it prevents additional questions... And in general, every traveling is a pleasure! π
I see HIVE as my part-time job as well as a social media I visit everyday much more than others :)
Nice... I wasn't a big social media networks fan before, but today, I barely check anything else than Hive...
Love it and great to see you digging more into the Hive symbol. Beehive says it all!
The comments on the post are great! Awesome to see how HIVE has a different meaning for people and how it helps everyone differently! Amazing!
My first post in Hive is April 24, 2024. It becomes a morning routine for me drink coffee, curate, check my LP's, check SPL, do a thread at inLeo and sometimes create a long post. I would say both because for the past 7 months I got a new hobby and my portfolio is growing. Thank you Hive!
Hehehe... You are still fresh... π While it looks like you are hooked, you can be addicted even more... Nice routine!
The eco system is so varied, it can be abit of everything. The main thing is their are so great people on Hive and it's good to hang out with them.
Amen! We have some really awesome folks here! Genuine, unique, and supportive! πͺ
hive= sharing my hobbies and creations
Nice definition! Short and simple! :)

Thanks for your curation!
gaming platform for mobile games (splinterlands, rising star, pepe game, etc...), spend some free time reading stuff as if it was facebook, and power up hive or hbd (in future who knows what will happen, maybe one could buy a house someday if it pumps to 1$?)
Isn't awesome that we can do so many different things on just one platform? There is no place like HIVE!
Yes it's a shame it's not very well known... You don't even pay gas fees here
