I have not check in on dcity game for quite away but I use their beeswap platform consistently. Today I found the website went down and went on discord to find out more.

Not checking into discord until it was too late for me. There were notification that the game was coming to an end and this had to do with hackers.
I remember investing thousands of Hive into dcity cards and held on to them in hopes of one day sell at a profit. Yet years later it would likely end up zero.
Now although Splinterlands is can potentially turn into a full decentralized game there still needs a host site. Thing to ponder is if key players of Splinterlands are out will the game still operate? Dcity have different setup in that for one it was not setup to be decentralized. Still what if....
Thanks for reading this post!
It just seems to turn out that way. You never know when the game will just shutdown, and I remember people talking about DCity shutting down when they mentioned it. I saw quite a few posts on it around the time it was announced.
Since you knew about it I am wondering what you did about dcity? Did you start selling assets or held on? Thanks.
Man this is tough. Holding for years only to end like this really hurts.
You made a solid point about decentralization too… situations like this really make you think.
Thanks. It was hard to state the obvious when I have been with a game for almost a decade. I am currently on the fence with this now after another game closing.
Thats so sad. I feel this might not really allow much people to trust any game lauch in the system again
I won't invest in games anymore—and I don't think anyone else will. The end result is always the same: zero in your pocket.
You summarized it well. Without a physical asset if the digital portal goes down the blockchain in itself is meaningless. This doesn’t bode well long term.
