Christmas holidays are cherished celebrations where we gather with the people we love most—at least, that's how it should be. But even though we love our family and friends dearly, we are all different and have different points of view on things. Many people say that the wisest thing to do is avoid certain topics like politics or religion.

In my experience, this isn't the case. Obviously, if there's a political or religious confrontation, it can create tension, but it's not the most important thing. The most important thing is that there's affection and respect. If that's the case, you can talk about anything because you'll respect each other's points of view and avoid taking things personally.
On the other hand, if there isn't a good relationship, it doesn't matter what the topic is because it will inevitably end in an argument. It will become personal and create very unpleasant situations. So, my recommendation is to be very patient and try to put yourself in the other person's shoes to empathize. Remember, they are your family or your friend, not the enemy.
