Going into 2022

Ah, it's another year. I hope we haven't hit the top of the market yet last year with BTC hitting $69K. There's a good chance that it wasn't the top. The main issue now is whether further government actions will throw a curve ball into our lives.

But nah, I'm here to write about some goals and directions I want to take on Hive as I go into the year and beyond.

Like that random meme I found on the internet (most likely on FB), goals don't have to be for the betterment of anything. Aside from the joke, I still want to make my time more enjoyable than it is right now.

If "organic" interaction is the gold standard, then I am at my limit. Anything more would need automation. Sure, everyone would love to automate their tasks. The real question is, are all those tasks worth automating?

One of the things I want to do this year is to reduce the number of times I post. Right now, I would say I do somewhere around 15 posts a month, including short content. It feels like a chore, to be frank. Despite having a list of stuff I could be writing about, I am either too lazy or don't feel compelled to share my views.

Kudos to those who manage to shitpost daily. You guys are some of the real MVPs when it comes to funneling inflation your direction. For those daily posters that cash out everything, I hope whatever you choose to exchange to is worth it in the end. As far as I am concerned, you aren't building wealth if you aren't exchanging for another asset.

So, what are some other options? Well, the 12% HBD seems enticing. I would receive 12% interest per year for doing literally nothing. Except for putting them in the savings account, which is subject to a 3-day wait for withdrawals.

I have entertained the idea of powering down everything and shove it into my savings. Of course, I would leave enough to interact on the chain or play games. If I start now, I may be able to do that by end of Q1. Curse these long power down times.

The downside would be less influence on governance. Not that 20K something HP means anything in the grand scheme of things. I would also not be able to be a mean person tag along for some juicy drama.

With 12% being the new standard (in my view), I have to look at my bag of random Engine tokens. I have to ask myself, why am I holding them if they can't generate at least 10% returns?

Is it a community worth building? Is it gonna bring value down the road? Or, is it more of a sentimental thing? I see people have so many tribe alts to the point I question the point of keeping them up if the token is a waste of time?

This brings back to the point I was making earlier, is it worth automating? Hoping for a pump or moonshot seems more like a gamble than sound investment of time and resources.

To sum it up, I'm debating a less content-focused approach for myself in 2022. Whether that comes to fruition is another story. But, making an effort to trim off unnecessary activities around here should be good in the long run. I would like to explore other things in life.

I enjoy creating so that will always be the go to option but 12% is too juicy to pass up. I'm going for a 50/50 split with all HBD put into savings and the other 50% powered straight up to grow that hive power.

I still think that we will see $10 at some stage and want to have a big stake for when we do. Plus it's more fun to paly with every day.

Yeah, I definitely want a hefty amount of HBD as well.

Those are excellent points especially "Is it a community worth building?" that question is huge. On the net, the general attitude is to do anything for money. Regardless of how odius.
Here on Hive we have a follow your passion and you can build wealth.
That being said your question is vital to the future of Hive. If we all join communities that we feel need to be built then our experience will be one of passion rather than pain :-D

I do wonder how many people are just grinding instead of enjoying the time here.

Interesting input from a "veteran" of the "wars" in here @enforcer48.

" To sum it up, I'm debating a less content-focused approach for myself in 2022."

Given my belief time is our most precious "commodity," I think you are wise to at least being giving this some consideration.

"But, making an effort to trim off unnecessary activities around here should be good in the long run. I would like to explore other things in life."

Yep! I think there are far better uses of my time anyway, as I have focused on trying to live simply. And be content with it.

It will be interesting to me to see what you finally decide. All the best to you and yours for the New Year! 👍🙂

Same to you, dude.

Well, I automate or delegate where ever I can. HP delegated to @leo.voter for 16% for example. I pay also people to work for me, mostly off chain, but I think it might be a good idea to let some work for me onchain.

I'll have to figure out the details.

Well everyone has an opinion about what they do in hive, I think that the tokens of the communities are not a loss at all because with the new piola you can generate additional money without even doing anything, plus the tokens fall in your workshop just by using a Tag, so this is amazing.

Of course I respect your opinion and I can learn from it.

I'm just lazy.

I think that is fine. You built a decent bag from your activities here and its natural to think about the returns at some point. Just automate what you can do and spend time when you like on the chain. While people on the chain would like people to be here all the time, I think it can also start feeling like a chore eventually.

That's the plan. The details are in the works.

Elimination and automation are extremely useful in the long run!

As long as it doesn't get too robotic, I suppose.

Just to add, in absence, you can activate hive.vote (though I believe you are aware of it).
That could also earn you returns in font of curations. Due to the nature of my profession, I had to pick selected curation trails and some individuals that post good content. At the long run, it earned me some HP, though my HP was low, but the little rewards I earned was cool.

For now, I am fully until busy time calls.

Hive.vote is okay. It is subject to down time or glitches. Even then, it all depends on if your VP is used up. My VP does sit at 100% sometimes even though I have a number of folks on autovotes through Hive.vote. The current yield is 9.7% for me.

So, I imagine the returns can't be much higher than 10-11% unless we game the system somewhat.

The interest is paid out regardless even if the witnesses lower the % because the chain handles it.

I see you got your priorities straight here, Rie should have been at the top.

15 posts a month sounds really a lot to me! I can barely write one post a week (plus an adaptation in French). In any case, I wish you a happy new year and the best for 2022. I am sure you will take a decision with which you will be happy at the end of the day (concerning your tokens).

Cheers!

I would say half of those 15 are probably short content.

I like being around here. I just don't like spending too much time around.

That's your new year decision. Limiting the limit you Post,is your decision
