Long Story Short (aka: TL;DR): I went full mental (again) and powered up 251 HIVE on Power Up Day instead of 250, because⦠why stop at āround and sensibleā when you can overshoot like a caffeinated squirrel? In this post, Iāll explain what Hive Power Up Day is, why it actually matters (hint: it makes you earn more while supporting the blockchain), and why you definitely should vote for my witness @botlord because decentralization needs some chaos⦠and my bot is the good kind of chaos (like in my head!).

Alright, Dear Hivers, itās that time of the month again!
Picture this: itās October 1st, the sacred monthly ritual we Hive weirdos celebrate: Hive Power Up Day (HPUD). And there I was, standing at the edge of reason, finger hovering over the āPower Upā button, ready to sacrifice some liquid HIVE to the gods of influence and curation.
I couldāve gone for a neat, regular-people-friendly 250 HIVE.
But nope. Not me. Not today.
I smashed that button for 251 HIVE.
Why? Two reasons:
1. I have a still undiagnosed and untreated mental disorder that refuses to let me leave numbers clean and tidy.
2. Because going the extra mile just is my thing. While youāre all playing checkers, Iām over here playing chess⦠badly⦠but with more pieces.

What the heck is Hive Power Up Day?
For the uninitiated, you poor summer children, HPUD is a monthly event where Hive users flex their commitment by powering up at least 10 HIVE. Do that on the 1st of the month, and you get this shiny little HiveBuzz badge that says, āYeah, Iām not just here for the memes.ā
But HPUD isnāt just about digital stickers (though, admit it, we all love them). Itās about building influence on the blockchain. More Hive Power =
⢠Bigger upvotes.
Your vote literally becomes worth more, which means you can support creators and earn better curation rewards.
⢠More say in governance.
You get more voting weight for witnesses (more on these magical blockchain janitors below).
⢠Compounding returns.
The more HP you have, the more you earn over time, itās like planting a money tree that grows in the blockchainās backyard.

The badge addiction is real
If youāve been around Hive long enough, you know the secret sauce: itās not just the content, itās the gamification. Weāll do almost anything for that little badge on our HiveBuzz profile. Itās basically PokĆ©mon for adults, gotta collect āem all, and in this case, they even pay dividends, or better, delegations.
So yeah, I got the badge. Again. Itās not just bling, itās proof Iām in this for the long haul. And because I powered up 251 HIVE, Iām clearly in it for the long-long haul⦠or I just like odd numbers.

Witnesses: the unsung heroes (and why you should vote for mine)
Now, letās talk about the people keeping the lights on in this decentralized party: witnesses.
Think of witnesses as the blockchainās electricians, janitors, and sometimes fire-fighters. They:
⢠Keep the network running and secure.
⢠Validate blocks so your posts, votes, and tips actually get recorded.
⢠Make governance decisions that affect Hiveās future.
Without witnesses, Hive would be like a rock festival without toilets, chaotic, unsustainable, and a bit smelly most probably.
Thatās why you should use your Hive Power to vote for witnesses you trust.
And guess what? Iāve got a witness for you: @botlord.
@botlord is like that one roadie at the concert who makes sure the amps donāt blow up but also sneaks in some extra lasers for fun. Solid, reliable, and with just enough flair to keep things interesting. Seriously, go vote for it -> https://peakd.com/witnesses or on Ecency: https://ecency.com/witnesses . Donāt be that person who skips voting and then complains about stuff later.

Embrace your inner oddball
Look, I couldāve done the sensible thing. I couldāve hit that tidy 250 HIVE and called it a day. But the world is built by the people who go one step further. Sometimes that extra step looks like 1 extra HIVE, sometimes it looks like voting for witnesses who keep this place alive.
So hereās to the oddballs, the power-uppers, the badge collectors, and the people who still believe that decentralized social media isnāt just the future, itās the present.
Power up. Vote for witnesses (Really! Do it now!). And for the love of decentralization, donāt let your HIVE just sit there like a lazy cat.
Now go vote for @botlord. Because if weāre going to build a better Hive, we might as well do it with a bot named like a comic book villain.

Congratulations on your big power up! Unique number as always! You didn't power up 250 HP. Rather you powered up more than 250 HIVE !LOL
