Working from office is now the new regular
My US friend called me and said he was shifting to New York as his company made it mandatory to be physically present in the office and work from there instead of doing remote work. Not just his company, but many companies have started making it a string thing and not all the employees favor that. During the COVID time, it was proved that it was possible to work from home. Not all the types of jobs, but mostly IT jobs had that option and it worked out very well.
Since then, people want to work from home comfortably than going to the office. There are pros and cons in both the approach which I had already discussed in some of my previous articles. Now that many companies have started making it mandatory to work from the office, people either quit their job and move to other hybrid companies or they just go with what the company is demanding. If you ask my opinion on this, I'm in favour of both, but I want to keep it a bit more flexible like I should be able to decide when to work from home and when I would like to go to the office.
Recent shift towards going to the office
I don't know if productivity is the reason why people want the employees to work from the office, but there are other disadvantages too. When people are working from home, they work in their ways and they can relax when they want. Some companies make the employees work continuously so that they don't want to close their laptops even if the time is over.
One of the biggest save here is the time taken to travel from one place to another. Lots of time is gone if people travel to the office, and some companies instead make use of that time to work from home doing some extra hours. People who are working from a far away place will find this to be a boon because they don't have to travel hours to reach the office or go back home.
Work from home jobs are going down
Some people who quit their previous job for a work-from-home job are struggling right now. They cannot switch to a working job these days. It is getting harder and harder to find a job that offers full work from home. For some companies, it even saves a lot of money when it comes to having an unnecessary office space. The social interaction is something that we all missed during Covid and post Covid. If we go to office, we will be able to get that back.
AI and ML add more confusion
AI and ML are indeed doing a great job, and many people who were doing a lot of manual work fear AI and ML. The main reason is because their jobs might get endangered if AI and ML can bring more innovation. AI and ML have created a confusion in general in the industry and on top of that there is this question as to whether it should be made strict to work from office or not.

This movement to new York would only affect those mothers working in the company, if they is any though.? I think its a good jump for your friend, but if not considered what are the alternatives if he doesnt want to move to Newyork
that's true, remote work is decreasin, most of companies offer max 2 days from home
i guess everyone wants to control what you do every minute

It is very interesting to see how things play out, but too sad for those who already enjoyed working from home, since they are force to fins another job, or to be forced working from the office again.
I though that after a few years on OCvod, and see how things can be done by working from home, it will be a new norm, but it seems that we are back to before COVID era.
The world is fast developing and it is revolving. in fact I believe in years to come, we will see more remote work in place and it will definitely be true. It is just a matter of time
I now have some people who are only searching for remote jobs
If they can’t work from home, they are not interested in the job and we are actually getting there
