Will solar farms reduce create more deserts?

Today we have a growing demand on energy and many people are switching to clean energy. The government is also giving subsidy to people who are implementing solar in their roof top. In spite of the fact that all these things are happening, there is a small fear that solar farms can create more deserts in the future. If we are to implement a solar farm, the site must be flat. If solar panels are installed, they will prevent any plants or vegetation from growing in that area.

Roof top is the best option

Currently, a scheme is available where the electricity grid can be used as a battery for individual houses, generating power that is sent to the grid and then consumed again during nighttime. The meter tracks the energy sent in the form of credits and the value is ultimately adjusted. This is a good scheme and we get a lot of subsidy from the government as well for doing this. Many people have shown interest in implementing solar panels in their roof top.

The other biggest advantage of rooftop solar panels is that the space on the rooftop of every house can be used for panel installation. This is the best approach because choosing a baren land will affect the vegetation in that land area and people might have to cut down a lot of trees to have the solar farms setup. I have seen many such places where the place is dedicated only to solar panels and nothing else is grown there.

Deserts can actually be used

Instead of using the current agricultural lands and forest lands for implementing solar or generating solar power, deserts can be selected for this purpose. Many countries are already doing that where they try to produce current from huge solar farms implemented in desert areas. These places are usually barren with no vegetation or less vegetation. When these places are used, they are not affecting any natural environment. This way more land space can be saved and at the same time the power generation problems can also be handled.

Solar panels in the desert could actually help reducing heat and water evaporation. Sand and dust covering the panels can cause a lot of issues, though.

That’s actually a very good idea! Using those deserts for installing panels is such a brilliant idea. And of course, the roof top is a great option too, if not the best as it stands.

And how is it going to increase the amount of deserts there are?

For me personally, I strongly believe that the solar energy will set a positive template ahead
