Although I enjoy working on Windows 10 for various reasons, I would also like to upgrade to Windows 11 to stay current with the latest security updates. I have no problem with this in my new laptop, as it was already in Windows 11 when I bought it. I have another older laptop that I have been using for about 10 years. On that laptop, I don't have an option to upgrade to Windows 11. The security checks indicate that my laptop is not eligible for the upgrade due to its outdated processor.
There is no doubt that Windows is the most comfortable operating system, just because we have used it from our childhood. At least that is the case for me. I have also used Linux, but I mostly use Windows on both Home as well as work laptops. Ever since this became a problem, I have been thinking about switching to Linux on my old laptop. I saw this as an opportunity to get back to Linux. But I haven't got the time to install it yet. I still have a lot of dependency on the old laptop, and I haven't transitioned fully yet to the new laptop, even though it has been years since I bought the new one.
Today, when I was reading through some of the articles online where it said that I can bypass the security checks and install Windows 11 or upgrade to Windows 11 even though they don't allow it. Looks like there are two methods in which this can be done. One is by making changes to the Windows registry and another method is by installing through the Windows 11 ISO file. I was curious and I started thinking if I should take the effort to bypass the restriction and install Windows 11 on my laptop.
The first thing is that if there are any issues in the future after the upgrade, I will have to scratch my head and waste my time on that. Microsoft has already said clearly that they won't be supporting older processors. Despite that, if I have to install it, I have to take a risk, and right now, I don't have the time to explore such things and take those risks. Maybe if I had been in my college, I would have done that, but today I don't have the time and motivation to explore all these things. I don't want my work or my laptop usage to be affected in any way.
Another part of my mind says that it would be good to explore this and do this because I used to love this type of activity when I was in college. But just because life is very busy right now, I'm not willing to do this exploration. Some of the important client work itself is in pending right now, so I guess I shouldn't be doing all these things. But I'm going to take the time to install Linux on my old laptop and start using that instead, which is a mandatory thing that I should do.

I use windows for gaming, it's more easy than Linux for thar matter... I won't upgrade to windows 11 until strict necessary for new games requirements, as for security I used windows 7 until 2-3 years ago, never had problems, if you don't search problems you don't find them
I actually sincerely believe that in many years to come, we will still witness a lot of switching and upgrading
