Thoughts on having a dream home
I often keep getting this thought. Although I already have a house and have been paying EMI for the flat I bought, I still get the thought that I should build a dream home. This has been my thought, not just for having a good property but also for creating something that I dream of. I see a lot of videos in social media and gather many thoughts and what my dream house should be, but I would like to see that in action soon.
Why do people think about having a dream home?
For many people, having a house itself is a dream. It all depends on how they are born and brought up. Some people struggle without a house, and they live in a rented place for a very long time. This gives them a feeling that they should purchase their own house someday. This thought keeps accumulating, and one fine day, they start working on bringing that dream to reality.
Having a dream home is totally a different thing, where even though people are comfortable having their own house or own flat, they still want to build a house in a way they dream. That's what makes it special.
Our needs in life keep changing
It is true that our needs keep changing in our lives. For example, my cousin is against purchasing a new property. He thinks that renting a property is far better than spending the money on buying a property and paying a loan for that. To some extent, I agree with the fact that it can take several years to complete an existing home loan, and by then, we might have spent a lot of money on that. Our priorities can keep changing in life. But when we have the thought of purchasing a property or building a dream home, I think we should go ahead and execute it. When the next priority pops in, the current one will go away.
A Dream home can give a peaceful life
For me personally, having a good home to live in is peaceful. I have seen people struggling on their mental level for not have a good home to live in. I don't know if this is a cultural thing, but people have a goal in their life to build a dream home and live in that house for a considerable amount of time. There have been several great people who did that, and mostly people want to enjoy that kind of life after their retirement and focus on building the dream home after that.
Owning a property is a nice feeling
The modernized approach is slightly different, where people want to move from place to place and experience all kinds of lifestyles, but owning a property and living in their own property is a different feeling that not everyone can understand. For the modern generation, that may not be the dream, but for the older generation, especially people who did not have that sophistication, will want to own a property and live in that for a decent amount of time.

I'm at rent and the issue is that you can get kicked out, no one can kick you out on your own house... But they are too expensive to buy now
Having a dream home is a goal, I usually see that pride in my dad's face whenever he talks about our family house. Before his retirement he was not always around but now that he isn't working anymore, h e is always at home and he's happy he has a home to his name that he built to his taste
You said it all with how you concluded. This generation would rather travel from place to place and find owning a home too limiting but then, it is of much value to the older generation to want to own a home where they can live for a long time and be happy.
