The power of compounding on Hive
A few years back I spoke to some of my friends in the real world and made them invest in Hive. They were also okay to invest some money. They said, they cannot spend time or understand the platform but instead they can invest some money and watch it grow. I informed them that they have to at least wait for 5 years to see some good value or growth. It hasn't been 5 years yet.
With all the money they gave, I bought Hive for them initially, and later they wanted to do a top-up. I advised them to add the additional investment to HBD savings. They did not understand anything so I told them that I'm going to keep the money equivalent to USD value and get around 20% APR for that. So eventually I had half of their investment on Hive and another half as HBD. The investment was not a very big value. They invested a small amount of Hive.
The value is intact
To my surprise, I recently did a check to see how the portfolio is looking at the current market condition. To my surprise even though the account value has not greatly improved, the value of their initial investment is still intact. I bought Hive on their accounts when the price was around 50 cents. I was expecting the price of Hive to improve and become at least 1 dollar. But unfortunately, the price started dropping. The accounts were earning some curation rewards on their accounts. That was at least a good thing because they would earn at least a minimum of 8 percent APR.
After the HBD APR was reduced to 15 percent, I converted all the HBD in savings to Hive and powered it up. The main reason is that the price of Hive is also down. Purchasing Hive at 25 cents was a great investment.
Expectation in the next bull market
There is a high possibility that in the next bull market, the price of Hive will pick up faster, and even if the price reaches 50 cents or 60 cents again, then the invested value will greatly increase leading to a good profit for the investors. If the price of Hive crosses 1 dollar like what happened in the previous bull market, then it is a win-win for everyone. If something like this happens in the next bull market, I would be cashing out a profit and providing it to the investors so that they are also happy with their investment. If all goes well, they should be able to take their investment out and keep getting whatever is extra.
The current compounding itself is working well on Hive. If you own some HP, it will automatically grow at the rate of 3 percent per annum, and on top of that, we get around 8 to 10 percent curation rewards for the HP we own. If we are also contributing in the form of content writing, we can earn a small amount of Hive too based on the quality of our writing and the engagement we get on our posts. Compared to many other competitive blockchains, I think Hive is very good at providing these many opportunities to investors.

So, I'd like to help Hive value to go up but also grow my profile. I have some Hive, should I just power it up all?
And I have some HBD and I'm not really interested in cashing out now. I prefer to be more influential in this environment. Is it better to let that HBD sit or should I swap it for Hive and power up?
I cannot give financial advice but if you want to keep your Hive for long term, it is good to keep it in powered up state than liquid because powering up has its advantages.
Right now the price of Hive is very low. If the intention is to hold long term, I would buy Hive with that HBD and power it up.
Bravo friend, I'm quite amazed the value is intact, although I have few questions to what you did after, powering up; doesn't that delay the period of cashing out, thereby missing out on bullrun and have you updated the investors on the new info on HBD, please I need clarity as well as how the 10% curation reward for the HP we own works, because I haven't seen it.
Aside all these, I do believe in the compound power of hive in the long run especially in the HP and HBD saving aspect. Thanks for the update.

Just yesterday, I was telling someone that Hive is like BTC and as valuable as BTC
The price of Hive has come down a lot so your account looks smaller than it used to. The time to invest is now because the price is low, Hive will return to your purchase price $0.50.
The only compounding that works is in HBD, in Hive you just lose it to USD.
Not if you buy HIVE at the bottom, like now. Then only appreciation awaits :)
