Spending more money after having kids

It is very common to see the expenses spiking up after we have kids. It is a good thing but at the same time, it is also good and important to be prepared for these expenses. We recently had a kid and we had some good fortunes in our life after having the kid but at the same time, we also noticed that our expenses have gone up a little bit. Anybody planning to have a kid should be prepared to take care of these expenses.

I want to highlight some expenses that can happen after having kids. There is nothing wrong with spending more but we have to be prepared and it shouldn't end up like a surprise.

Vaccination

I'm not sure about other countries but in India Vaccinations are one of the biggest expenses for newborn babies. There are options available on the government side to get it done for free or at a minimum expense but their facilities are not very great. People fear to go and take the vaccine from the government centers and if we go to private, it is costly. There are two types of vaccination, painful and painless. There are different opinions on both type of vaccination. But usually, painless vaccinations cost a little bit higher compared to painful vaccinations. The next expense would be to visit doctors. When something is wrong with adults, they at least tell us but with kids, it is hard to predict what is going wrong. So we have to take them to the doctor and that is another expense in India.

Travelling with the Kid

This is more like a small discomfort than to say that it is an expense. For people who travel a lot, they cannot travel with normal facilities if they have kids. We have to choose the best travel plan so that we don't disturb the kid and we also make sure the kid is well-placed and they get some good sleep and food. To do that, we have to make some break journeys which can end up being a bit costly. Wherever we go, we have to book separate rooms for the kid and the mother because they both need some privacy for at least 1 and a half year. Some kids don't mind sleeping with heavy noise around but some kids find it very hard and if they don't sleep properly, they become cranky.

Kid amenities

One of the biggest expenses here is the diapers. Initially, we may not know that it is a big expense but gradually when we use more than a few diapers per day, we will know how much we are spending for diapers. We cannot go for any cheap diapers so buying the best also has some costs. Apart from diapers, there are a few other things that we have to purchase for the kids and some of those things are also costly. Providing good comfort to the kids is important. We all want the best thing for our kids. So everything premium would be the best thing to do.
