My HP stake has almost reached 50K and now I want to take another 200K HP lease and do curation properly and support quality content. My wish was that one day I would take my stake above 50K get a good HP lease and start the process of curation.
There is also a chance that I may create my own community so that I can arrange contests there and create other activities for Hive users.
The main purpose of this HP lease is to help Hive users through curation and bring forward those good quality contents that truly deserve support.
I have noticed that there are some excellent contents that get ignored or there are some particular communities where special voting does not come. I am thinking of curating a particular topic from now on or creating my own community and doing curation with rules and regulations.
My wish is to take the HP lease up to 1 million and slowly increase my investment and keep requesting leases. However I will not get any benefit from this HP lease because I have requested the lease at 8% APR and roughly I will only get around 7% back in return which is totally loss...
So financially, I will not get any profit or benefit. However this will increase my influence, where my followers will increase and people interest in my content will grow which is beneficial to the extent that it will give my account and career good growth.
So I have requested an 80K HP lease. If anyone agrees with this agreement then please kindly fill my lease so that I can get the opportunity to do curation.
This is my initial first step that I have requested 80K. Immediately after this I will take another 80K HP request and in the first phase I will complete my 200KHP lease.
I already have 50K HP, meaning my total will be 250,000 HP where I will have good voting power (around $0.48) that is a good opportunity to do curation.
So, let me tell you through which steps I gave the HP lease and how this is possible. Those users who are new and do not know about HP leasing should know that you can request an HP lease through Hive Engine.
Yes, you must keep in mind that it is a little difficult for a huge amount of HP to get filled but smaller amounts are easily available.

First of all, in Step 1, what you have to do is go to HP Lease on #Hive-Engine and log in. The first thing is that you need to have #swap.hive with you and for this you have to deposit Hive from the ecosystem so that it comes into your Hive Engine wallet and from there you can request a lease.

In Step 2, what you have to do is simply click on “Lease” and there you will see another interface where people existing requests are available and at what APR they have made their requests.
By looking at the APR you can get an idea of what the market rate is and if you request at a higher rate than that, there is a chance that your lease will be filled quickly.
So, what I did was divide my 80k HP lease into 8 parts, meaning I took 10k HP for each portion.

In Step 3, I clicked on “Request a Lease” and filled in all the blanks including how much HP I needed for 12 weeks and how much I would have to pay per week.
After filling everything in I requested the lease and completed the transaction through the Hive keyhain.

In the final step you can see that my name is visible on the “Request a Lease” page. I placed 8 orders of 10K HP each.
Now, whoever sees it and likes it can accept the lease and as soon as they fill it, the HP will come into my account and I can start curation properly..
Once again, let me tell you all that the APR at which I have taken the lease will almost result in a loss for me in the end because the curation APR is much lower than the lease APR, so you must keep this thing in mind.
I hope this step-by-step process has made the Hive lease understandable to Hive users and whoever is willing, please fill my request quickly...

This sounds like an interesting strategy. I don’t think I hear of HP leasing often, so it hasn’t crossed my mind much. I assume the curation rewards will come to the person who has leased the HP, but I want to ask for clarity.
This works like this: when you lease HP, after curation, 50% of the rewards go to the author and 50% go to the curator.
The person you lease the HP from has to be paid in liquid HIVE upfront. After that, the curation rewards are distributed between the author and the curator.
Oh I see. Makes sense. I suppose the curation rewards mitigates your loss then in the sense that your actual loss is the difference between the liquid Hive you paid the HP Holder and the APR you earn from curation yourself during the period of lease.

Taking a lease at 8% APR and earning about 7% back knowing it's a financial loss but still doing it for influence and community impact? That's not just strategy. That's commitment.
I respect the vision. You're not chasing quick profits you're building influence, supporting quality content, and creating a space where good work gets noticed.
The goal of 1 million HP lease is ambitious. But the way you're thinking about it curation, community, contests that's how you build something lasting.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, that’s exactly how it works. With this kind of lease, losses are always possible but my main goal is to support the community, so I’m willing to ignore such losses.
Very soon, if I’m able to get the lease, I’ll lease 1M HP. Again, thank you so much for your kind comment.
Is that lease mechanism still working, last time I had a look at it on hive engine there were zero listings. Perhaps thats normal as not many people use it so once fulfilled the list is usually empty?
Oh, just had a fresh look, a few entries in there asking for BEE and your HP request in segments, fair play! https://hive-engine.com/lease
It’s been quite a while since I last checked as well.
Today I submitted a lease request on Hive-Engine and it’s already done. Now I will see if anyone sends a request.
Yes, currently it’s only Bee and my entries. Let’s see how it goes.
Cool initiative and walkthrough on how one can lease HP in order to be put at good use. Establishing a new community sounds pretty good, wish you good luck with that.
Thanks alot. I will try my best
