"Play The Flute" & "Finding Normal": Movie Review

Since the beginning of this week, I've not had a hard time writing a post until today. I would just open my notepad or my favourite peakD draft and I'll started writing but today, maybe because of the many activities I had before writing, I struggled to start a post especially for one of my favourites to write about... Reviewing movies.

So yeah, I've started somehow and for today I'm choosing to review two movies from the collection I've been seeing. I don't find much time to see movies anymore but for the few I've been able to see, here is a short review (strictly my thoughts) on the two movies from weeks ago.

Play The Flute (2019)

Honestly, I thought this movie was going to be a boring one and I was right until half of the story. But did I finish the movie, yes! Will I recommend it that it's a good watch? Yes! Why? Because the boring start made the whole story turn out much better as everything took a beautiful turn. A youth pastor has to make his class of stubborn and uninterested youths become interested in God's word and relating with God. The first half of the movie was mainly about these youths resisting all the pastor's effort to make them surrender to God. The other half is where the "play the flute" sermon came in that changed them and it even touched me as a viewer. I didn't expect it to end the way it did but it made a point in the story much clearer for viewers. I will give it a 7.5/10.

Finding Normal (2013)

My favourite on this short list because of one beautiful thing the story made me understand... The power of "Normal" and having a purpose that aligns with God. I am very sure I'd have never made sense of the lead character's decision if I had seen this movie years back but at the time I saw it, I understood even better what I've been learning in the past months. The story explores how a well to do doctor left a city to go visit her boyfriend in another city but got into trouble in a small town called "Normal" where she had to do community service for three days. That three days changed her life and so the ending was almost unreal in our world today. I'll rate it 8/10.

Now tell me, which among the two movies are you more curious about and will you see any?
