THE RISE OF RED my Review

(edited)

ABOUT THE DESCENDANTS

The descendants franchise started in the year 2015 and over the years have been portrayed as children of Disney characters.
From Beauty and the Beast, to Sleeping Beauty, to Cruella of the 100 dalmatians.
The first movie saw the kingdom of Auradon’s crown prince, prince Ben offering the descendants of classical villains, Maleficent, Cruella De vil, Snow white’s stepmother and my personal favorite Jafar a chance at redemption since they didn’t commit the crimes of their parents. The young villains were represented by Dove Cameron, the late Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart. Other memorable cast mates are: Mitchell Hope, Melanie Paxson, Brenna D'Amico, Sarah Jeffery, Zachary Gibson, Jedidiah Goodacre, Dianne Doan, Dan Payne, Keegan Connor Tracy, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Maz Jobrani, Kathy Najimy, and Kristin Chenoweth, Cheyenne Jackson, China Anne McClain. The franchise boasts of talented actors/actresses and a progressive script.

The cast of this movie is filled with exceptionally talented persons. Like Brandy Norwood and and Montalban from Cinderella 1997.

MY OPINION

When the movie started my first thought was the queen of hearts sure doesn’t pay this guards enough to dance and guard 🤣. I had a lot of laughs whilst watching this movie. Something I appreciate that the movie towed was how decisions made by persons can affect an alter one’s personality and general view of life, we can see that in the case of Bridget (Aka the queen of hearts), who was really nice until a drastic change made her feel caring and loving people wasn’t worth it.

This movie leaned on family and community, and how one’s past shouldn’t define their future, as in the case of Cinderella who received zero kindness from her family but turned into a kindhearted and caring individual.

My favorite song in this movie would have to be LOVE AIN’T it. You’d have to listen to the song to understand why I love it. The other songs are good but Love ain’t it is like a beckoning call saying I will make you into the perfect queen but giving out love isn’t part of my itinerary, and queens should rule with fear not love, this is a fresh perspective but honestly enjoyable to listen to(and watch).

Well my ratings are simple 7/10.
I love the costumes, the songs, the Choreography but when I think about the original story behind these fantasy characters, I can’t help but think it’s still lacking but overall it is an enjoyable piece to watch and I’d highly recommend it to watch with your family (it’s family safe).
