The Not-So-Normal Life Of The President’s Daughter

I don’t know what it’s like to be the president’s daughter but I know what it means to be an only daughter. Now imagine being an only daughter to the president of the United States of America. Talking from one end of experience, that’s a lot to deal with.

First daughter is a 2004 movie about the United States of America’s only daughter who went to college and fell in love with a student with a huge secret. At first I was all alert because I was curious to know how Samantha was even going to fall in love in the first place with guards all around her in school.

I believe Samantha played a great role and was very easy to understand. Her acting was very realistic for me. In as much as she was raised to be the President’s daughter(perfect and flawless in every sense) she portrayed some flaws. She explained with actions that no matter the kind of family she came from or person she was, one fact remains; She’s human and far from perfect.

As a 2004 movie, the cinematography was alright. I didn’t expect a lot but they sure exceeded the expectations that I wasn’t expecting. Does that make sense? Maybe it’s because I don’t have a tech eye, it was really hard for me to tell if some things were CGI or real.

Also, I loved how the plot twist was very loud yet silent. As someone who loves predicting things in movies, I never saw that particular main twist coming. Of course, I predicted that Samantha would fall in love with the guy and that was no news because it’s even in the movie description but the secret of the guy got me shocked. That scene got me shouting “what??!!!”. I won’t even lie about the fact I had to pause to deep in what was happening. The writers definitely deserve their flowers for that particular twist.

The only thing I didn’t like about the movie was how perfect the security for Samantha was. Since her dad was president, I was thinking something was going to happen and then she would be in danger. I mean something did happen but she was safe. And the way that thing happened didn’t even make any sense because they never made the viewers aware of any violent opposition or anything like that.

They protrayed a very peaceful ambience from the beginning so when that violent incident happened, I began to wonder where it came from. Maybe they were expecting the viewers to know and find a way to connect the dots since it’s something that happens in reality.

I could relate with certain things in the movie as an only daughter and it made me really like the movie. It was fun watching First daughter but not interesting. I’m not sure if there was a lesson to be learnt from this movie but if there was then it probably was never to trust anyone, I guess.

I'll think about watching this once I'm done with Seven Deadly Sins. Really, I don’t remember the last time I watched something that is not anime.
