Have you ever watched a movie so good that you had to search afterwards if the writers had any books? Nowhere was that movie for me. I kept on forgetting it was fictional because everything looked so real. Mostly when I’m watching survival drama, I’m in a hurry to get to the end to know if the person survived or not but this was different.
Nowhere is a survival thriller about a pregnant woman who got trapped for about a month in shipping container in the middle of the ocean while fleeing from her tyrannical government. I thought she was going to give up because there was no hope from anywhere. There was nothing in sight. Just a lot of water north, south, east and west. It was emotional watching her try so hard to survive in the middle of now where with no food or water.
The cinematography was so good that at a point I kept on saying wow without realizing. There was so much attention to details that made it look like there were capturing a real life documentary and not fiction. The lead actress, Mia, was so great at her role. At a point, I thought the pregnancy was real.
Her emotions behind her acting was really beautiful. Each time she cried or laugh, I was moved to do same. She was able to engage me from the beginning of the move to the end. The moment I realized she was getting annoying, I just knew that was a great actress right there! One that is able to play with viewers’ emotions and control how they feel.
I also really liked how they were able to make such beautiful scenes when she was in the shipping container. I didn’t expect any dialogue but there were a number of them. You might be wondering who she was speaking to if she was alone right? Well, I don’t want to spoil it for you so find out.
Everything about the movie seemed realistic except some ocean scenes. As someone who goes to the beach at night and can’t stand the cold, I kept wondering how Mia was able to survive all those days in the middle of the ocean without any heavy blanket. I didn’t see any signs of hypothermia at all.
I also kept wondering how she was able to receive calls from her husband at that location. Even at the seashore, sometimes the reception is just so poor so I don’t know how she was able to talk to him for about 2 minutes or more without having a block in reception. Well, these were the factors that kept reminding me that oh, it’s just fiction.
Watching this movie made me realize, sometimes, all we need in life is a reason to keep going. As I said earlier, everything was a clear indication that Mia was going to give up until something happened. I got to understand that a worthy reason is enough to make you fight a battle you probably never even prepared for.
I’m going to rate this move 6.95/10. If you’re emotional like me, make sure you have a box of tissue papers beside you while you watch Nowhere.

Sí, realmente lo hace
I almost felt sick myself with she had to eat. Very intense film. The ending got me. Good depiction of how smart whales are.
What if the whale was her descendant that wanted to help her?🙂↔️
