The Melting Ice In The Yanqihu Lake

Greetings, My dear Hive Fellows.

It snowed suddenly in Beijing a couple of days. It was late snowing in the city when it was quite late in March, and the temperature was quit high, letting the snow-covered surface melt down within a day. The temperature reached 20 degrees the next day, as this week's average temperature will be around 20, which is not a sustainable temperature for snow. Also, the snowfall was also led by rain a bit which make the snow so wet that it was not so attractive for the people as people usually enjoy the snowfall in the winter when they prepare so many snowmen but this time I have not seen that as this wet snow is not capable to sustain the snowman structure as it melts down very fast.

Moreover, this dry winter has given the whole of Beijing a different look without any snow during the whole winter is completely different from what is usually seen in other winters when the wind forest area of northern Beijing is covered with snow up to this March, which is absent this year. As I am living in the northern area of Beijing, I can clearly feel the differences in the natural scenic areas and the surrounding nature. How they are completely different this year without any snow in the winter.

Yanqihu Lake is one of the most visited natural scenic areas in the Huairou district, and I have also visited the area so many times in almost every season. In my observation, I can go there on a working day as it is very close to my dormitory.

Like the other places, this lake is also different in look in this winter as there was no snow on the frozen lake. The memory I collect is that this lake used to be a white snow-covered lake in the window, and people can walk on that also. But this year, it is not white in color. The icy surface is from the water body itself that reflects the blue from the sky, and the colour becomes bluish without the pure white appearance as in other winters.

Besides the lake itself, the background mountains have also lost their usual winter appearances as there was no snowfall throughout the whole winter; the mountains have not changed their colour to white as they usually are in the winter times. But currently, the views are completely different as the half-green and half-green lushes in the background.

The best thing is that the crystal clear weather with excellent air quality and deep blue sky makes the natural views so beautiful that it will definitely attract you. The breathtaking background of the lake adds more beauty to this beautiful lake.

As there is no snow cover on the frozen water of the lake, the frozen water starts melting earlier than other times, and I found some parts of the lake is completely out of frozen surface, which is quite surprising as last year I found the last pile of cumulated snow has melted in April, but now you can not find any snow after 2nd day of snowfall due to extreme higher temperature and tiny layer of the snow without any piling as it is used to be in the winter after several times of snowfall throughout the winter.

I have discovered some larger parts of the lake are completely out of frozen ice and that can be reason I found no one walking on the frozen lake which was a normal view when it is covered with a thick layer pf frozen snow that increases the overall thickness of the frozen ice that is not available this year and so the unfrozen water has started dominating in many parts of the lake.

In overall exploration, I found a different beauty with the half froze and half-watery surface of the lake water and I think the lake is going to unfrozen very soon as the temperature has risen to a very high range in recent days that will be difficult of the frozen ice to be more sustainable for longer days as the spring is just behind the door that is to open by the nature in weeks.

It was a great experience to explore the beauty of the Yanqihu Lake with a different look in this different winter than the normal winter with snow-covered frozen water and white snow-covered mountains in the background of this excellent lake.
