Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan (Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido), Maldives, Indonesia (Bali and Yogyakarta), I was going through my past travels to see which would be the next interesting country or city to share, and I finally shortlisted New York, USA!
Some years ago, I actually was assigned to a work trip to New York. Excluding transit, it would be my first visit to the USA and it was exciting that I will get to experience New York. However, the downside of work trips was that my days were packed with meetings and there was limited time for sightseeing. Fortunately, very fortunately, there was a weekend in between the work meetings, which meant I had just two days to explore New York, and hence, this upcoming series is called "Speed Running Through New York"!
Not wasting any time, I was out early on a Saturday morning. Fortunately, the hotel I stayed was quite near to Times Square, so that's the first place on my list of attractions to check off. Just like what I read and heard, it's really a buzzing place with full of activity.
And next up, I headed to the "Top Of The Rock". It's actually an observation at the top of Rockefeller Center, one of the highest skyscrapers in New York.
At 70 storeys high, the views were really amazing! This side of the observatory faced the Central Park, which was another popular attraction in New York.
At other sides, one could see many skyscrapers. After all, this was of no surprise because it was New York! In some photos, you could also see the Hudson River and East River, which were on both sides of the New York city.
This is one of my favourite photos because the contrast between the sky, the greenery and the sole skyscraper was just neatly proportioned. It was really a photographer's playground at the observatory because everywhere you faced, there's something to interesting to see.
This was south facing which showed the Lower Manhattan area (if I am not wrong). One of the skyscrapers you see in the Empire State Building. It's also extremely high!
This should be my favourite photo - it's raw and not touched up by the way. Blue skies, Empire State Building and if you squint your eyes a little more into the distance, you might be able to spot The Statue of Liberty!
After Top Of The Rock, I continued my speed running through New York. It's not hard to guess where this was, it's the Central Park. It was much bigger than I expected and because it was the weekend, there were many people, either just jogging and gathering with friends to chill. It's a pretty nice place to relax, and that's why many cities have such parks.
And that's it for the first part of my speed running through New York! Three attractions checked from my list! Top Of The Rock stood out for me because I personally like to go up skyscrapers and observatory decks in every city I visit so that I can admire the architecture and layout of the city. Being a first timer in New York, going up Top Of The Rock provided a good preview of the city and the views were really fantastic! There's skyscrapers, rivers, parks, and so much more! Stay tuned for the next part of this series!
So that's all I have today! Have you been to New York before? Let me know in the comments below!

Yup! Thanks!
New York is a very dynamic and even overwhelming city (that's how I felt on Fifth Avenue) because of the amount of people passing by at that time (Saturday afternoon-evening). It is impressive the images of the skyscrapers. The central park was one of the places that I liked the most, as well as St. Patrick's Cathedral and the street of exclusive stores...this was some years ago, this visit is in my best memories, regards @relf87.
Ah that's nice to hear and thanks for your sharing too! Thanks for dropping by!
