Hi there! Today, I want to take you on a virtual trip to Zacs Place. It’s a super popular restaurant in Kota Marudu (Sabah), especially for those who love Korean food! This is the only Korean restaurant in Kota Marudu, and it’s a go-to spot whenever we’re in town. The place is about 7 kilometers from Pekan Kota Marudu and is tucked away from the busy roads. You can’t miss it from the main road—it stands out in an open area with no trees around, so it’s visible from afar.
Zacs Place opened, if I’m not mistaken, in August 2023. It was started by a Korean couple (or so I heard!) who wanted to preserve their family’s traditional recipes. The restaurant has a spacious parking lot and even a designated area for activities like singing, dancing, performances, and simple games outside. The interior décor changes with the seasons or festivals in the country. The building is made entirely of concrete. The last time we visited, in December last year, the theme was Christmas. The restaurant was decorated like a giant gift box—so unique and eye-catching!
Now, let’s talk about the menu. Everything is authentic Korean food! They have kimbap, tteokbokki, ramyeon, bulgogi rice, dakgangjeong, bibimbap, kimchi, and much more. Every time we visit my wife’s hometown in Kota Marudu, we make it a point to stop by. My favorite dish is the bulgogi rice—it’s minced beef with rice, and the flavor is unlike anything I’ve had anywhere else. If I’m craving bulgogi rice, Zacs Place is the only place that comes to mind.
The atmosphere and customer service are fantastic. The restaurant is air-conditioned, has relaxing music, and is decorated all in white—it’s such a peaceful place to dine, and I personally love the white aesthetic. The owners are super friendly! If they’re around, they’ll warmly welcome you and even wave goodbye when you leave. The staff is just as friendly, and their authentic cooking truly left an impression on me.
In summary, Zacs Place isn’t just about delicious food you can’t find elsewhere; it’s also about experiencing a unique culture. If you’re looking for Korean food in Kota Marudu or just want to try something special, I highly recommend Zacs Place!
