Travel Thailand photo diary 📸 Wang Sai Waterfall, Ko Pha-ngan

Today I want to tell you about my unforgettable experience at Wang Sai Waterfall on the Thai island of Ko Pha-ngan. I was there with some new friends we met in Bangkok and we had a lot of fun.

Arriving with the scooters at the waterfall and entering the waterfall area.

We set off with our rented scooters from our hotel Haad Yao Bayview Resort & Spa and made our way to Wang Sai Waterfall. The trail was pretty easy to find as there were several signs pointing the way. It only took us about 30 minutes to get there. The entrance fee was a few baht but 100% worth it.

When we reached the car park, we parked our scooters, left the helmets on the scooters and continued on foot. The walk to the waterfall was not very long, only about ten minutes. We heard the sound of the water from far away and were curious to see what awaited us.

The walk through the jungle next to the river.

The Wang Sai Waterfall is not a single waterfall, but a series of small cascades flowing over different rocks. This makes it very interesting and varied. We walked along the river and admired the lush vegetation. There were many palm trees, bamboo and flowers to see. We also observed some animals.

We felt like we were on a jungle adventure and took lots of photos. We also learned some historical facts about the area. For example, we learned that the Wang Sai waterfall was a popular place for kings visiting the island.

Video Moments of Joy

The swim below the waterfall

After walking along the river, we came to the largest pool below the waterfall. The water was clear and refreshing and inviting for a swim. We put our things down in a shady spot and jumped into the water.

The swimming was wonderful! We splashed water on each other and laughed. We also tried to get under the waterfall, but it wasn't that easy. The water was quite strong and kept pushing us away. But we made it and it was a great feeling to feel the cool water on our skin.

Visit to the sightseeing platform

After we had enough of swimming, we got out of the water again and dried off. We wanted to have another look at the waterfall from above, so we went to a viewing platform that was nearby. The climb was a bit steep, but not too strenuous.

From the platform we had a fantastic view of the Wang Sai waterfall and the surrounding landscape. We could see the water flowing over the different plains and how the sunlight reflected in it. We could also see the green hills and the sea in the background. It was a beautiful sight!

We spent some more time there enjoying the view. We also took some selfies to capture the moment.
