Hello Travelers!
My last blog was when we visited the beautiful coastal area in the southern part of Malta. It's another amazing place and exploring the island that I'm excited to share with you. From the rocky landscape, peaceful coastline and endless view of the beautiful Mediterranean Sea to a huge rocky landscape famously known as Clapham Junction.

Heading to the area, my husband says our next destination was interesting and it was nothing for us. Because he was so curious about it and we really needed to visit the place.

I have to admit it made me curious and the kids too keep on asking about the place. Traveling to the place, there were just a few houses and empty lots.

When we arrived, it was an empty landscape with an endless view of the beautiful sky. When we started looking around, my husband said “This was what I wanted to show you”. Look at this. Pointing on the ground. And he explains that this was one of the mysteries in Malta.

Immediately caught my attention was the unusual ground. There were long carved tracks into the limestone.
There were long grooves and tracks carved into the limestone. We saw the strange parallel tracks and running in different directions across the landscape. One of the country's fascinating archeological sites is known as Cart Ruts.

Known as the Clapham Junction of Malta, Misraħ Għar il-Kbir is one of the island’s biggest mysteries.
The truth about who Clapham Junction is still unknown and a mystery until now.
Others believe that one of the main theories suggests that they were made by Bronze Age Farmers in 2000 BC. They were irrigation channels to guide rainwater and ceremonial paths linked to the temples.

It felt so unreal walking into the tracks. It's part of Malta's history that is carved into stone but even today, there are no exact origins and function remains a mystery.
The place was peaceful and standing there in an open landscape with nothing special around like the other destination except the rocks, some plants and the sound of the wind.
Clapham Junction doesn't have to be perfect. They don't always have to be grand or perfect. And our destination has a story to tell. We just enjoyed walking, breath, and taking photos. It simply slows down and peace comes with it.

Malta really surprises us with every destination we visit. From historic towns, beautiful churches, beaches, ancient temples and unknown mystery. And for me, myself is part of our family adventure.
Thank you Malta for giving us beautiful memories and you really keep surprising us.
Stay tuned for our next adventure. Until our next destination. 🇲🇹
