Our Next Destination in Malta: Ħaġar Qim & Mnajdra . 🇲🇹

Life has been quite busy lately and it took me a little while to finally continue sharing with you guys our Malta travel experience.

So, let’s go back to Malta!

One of our destinations was Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra. The two incredible prehistoric temple sites located on the southern coast of Malta. It is part of UNESCO-listed megalithic temples and dates back more than 5000 years.

Visiting the prehistoric stone temples feels completely different from visiting ordinary tourist attractions in Malta.

It's not just summer time we visit but the day was so hot. Going to our destination, my husband followed the Google maps with its narrowed road. It was an adventure going to the stone temples.

Finally we arrived in the area and my husband parked our car near the entrance. When I saw the parking lot, it wasn't too crowded with cars. It was just enough.

First thing, we pay for the entrance fee and one single ticket covers the entry to bother temple sites. There was a museum and a glimpse of Malta's prehistoric past.

🚶‍♀️ Walking Toward the Ancient Temples.

Going out of the museum, Aya saw a cat taking his nap. Aya has a big heart for cats and wanted to take him home. So we gave her a few minutes to cuddle him before we headed our visit to the archaeological site.

After that, it was time to start walking.

We followed the path toward the archaeological site. The land felt ancient because of the dry and rocky ground.

Then we noticed something beautiful in the distance. Looking toward the sea, there's a small rocky island that creates an amazing view against the endless blue sea. And that tiny island named Filfla

Finally, we reached the archaeological site Ħaġar Qim. And wow 😲 give you a feeling that you're stepping into another time. And kids say things like Flintstones. I was amazed by the enormous stones and in person it was completely different seeing them in photos.

From Ħaġar Qim, we continued toward Mnajdra and connected by a walking path. Some parts of the way we're under construction. And we didn't mind walking under the sun because there was so much to see along the way.The walk felt a little longer because of the strong Maltese sun.

The heat was so real and thanks to the beautiful surroundings made the walk worth it. So peaceful too!.

When we visited the place, it didn’t feel like a normal tourist spot because we felt like we were walking straight into history.

The first thing I loved was that we could physically touch the ancient stones. Imagine those are more than 5,000 years old walls and even older than the Pyramids of Egypt. But there are some parts of the stones that are restricted that we could even go inside.

The feeling was so strange like we were connecting who built them thousand and thousand of years ago.

What an incredible location for building a temple and having a beautiful landscape surrounding it.

It wasn't just about seeing ancient stones and for me it was a chance to slow down and appreciate history.

A memory we will keep, that we visited the Ħaġar Qim & Mnajdra. It was peaceful, ancient, and so full of strength.

When you visit Malta, don't skip the temple. And wear comfy shoes, bring bottled water and give your time just to be there. It's not ordinary travel like sightseeing-its time travel.
