Hello Travelers! Ahojte.
I would like to share with you our first trip to Hungary with my daughter. Last April 2, 2023 we traveled to Győr, Hungary.
Slovakia borders the Czech Republic and Austria to the west, Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east and Hungary to the south.
It's an advantage living in the borders. We can go by car, pass by the bridge. In the middle of the bridge is the border of Slovakia and Hungary. And the nearest way to Hungary for us it's by ferry.
It's really advanced for us to cross other countries. Like our first trip. It's the weekend and on our first day we traveled to Győr by rooming around the city and having our lunch there. What an experience for us. With these neighboring countries its full of history, traditions, cultures, delicious food and languages that diverse together. Like here in Komárno City, people speak Slovak and Hungarian languages. People will talk to me in Hungarian and I will respond, nerozumiem in English I don't understand. Still I'm learning Slovak language, soon I can communicate with them fluently.
We're all ready and started our trip to Győr, Hungary. My husband decided we will go to the bridge. The Mária Valéria Bridge joins Esztergom, Hungary and Štúrova, Slovakia across the Danube River.
First Stop: Batthyány tér.
Batthyány Square, “the lungs of the city”, is one of the largest parks in the city center of Győr. Its area is 19,842 square meters.
We simply walk, explore and enjoy the moment as a family. It's a walk through Batthyány Tér. The wonderful weather makes it perfect. So I took the chance to get some photos.
Second Stop: Győri Bencések Loyolai Szent Ignác temploma-Benedictine Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola (Catholic Church in Győr, Hungary).
The church is a tall twin tower and so elegant. So stepping inside the church it's a different feeling. The door is made of large woods. As we entered, The main altar caught my eyes. It was breathtaking. The place is so peaceful and Aya can't resist when she first sees the main altar. She always says Wow, so beautiful. Keep on repeating those words and told her I know Aya. And were inside the church so be quiet. Before I just saw its in movies and videos people who travel in European Countries. There counties are rich in architectural beauty, colorful paintings, detailed artworks. Especially on Churches so stunning. Now, we experience it I know the feeling. Its an awe. Goosebumps going inside of its peaceful vibes because its a Holy Place. Everything, everything is so elegant. From walls to ceiling was amazing. All good words to describe the beautiful church. First we pray. And they say if it's your first visit to the church make a wish. And I did make a wish. After we pray, we walk around the church and took photos.
The main altar was breathtaking. There is a large painting of St. Ignatius of Loyola that really stood at the center, surrounded by golden decorations. It was peaceful, powerful and majestic at the same time. The main altar is decorated with golden statues and it will become more beautiful and stunning under the light. The ceiling is painted with angels. The angels are more beautiful with their colors and cloud-like design. You can feel peace inside and hear the footsteps of the people. It's good to reflect and pray to God. How much more if they have a mass. I can imagine the sound during mass, the choir, and organ of course. It's a beautiful sound to my ears. The ceiling is high for sure it echoes the sound. People's voices will make it beautiful, like angels singing.
Third Stop: The City of Győr.
Győr, Hungary—beautiful, stunning, elegant, breathtaking, I don't know what other words to describe the city. It's really filled with history, timeless architecture and a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's perfect weather for us to explore the city. Seeing it personally really amazed us. It really tells a story in every corner of the place.
The main square is a friendly environment, lively and cozy. People enjoying their coffee outside and chatting. And just enjoying the moment. Of course, there will be photos and videos as our remembrance in the majestic beauty of Győr, Hungary.

As the day ends, we visit the mall and kids buy some small stuff and we have our dinner. Győr will always have a special place in our hearts. And every moment spent was truly unforgettable. As we were heading home, it's not just photos and souvenirs we carried. But also the beautiful memories that will stay with us forever.
I'm thankful to my husband for the wonderful moments. And thank you Gyor for the amazing experience. We’ll be back someday to explore the city.!💙✨
Love lots,
