Happy Sunday @worldmappin and to the rest of Hivers in the world!
A natural, serene, and yet playful place, with refreshing lush greens and turquoise water, is both calm and adventurous. And today, I will take you to this place, where every piece of art created and designed by nature and man themselves is magical and stunning. Welcome to Mabanag Spring Resort of Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.
Mabanag Spring Resort is a 15-minute drive from the Poblacion (center) of Mahayag. The spring water naturally originates from the watershed and the ground, and is clean, flowing, and incredibly cold. You don't need ice cubes for your drinks, just dip your bottles and cans into the water, and you will have refreshing, cold drinks while sitting on your mushroom cottages and relaxing, breathing the fresh breeze.
How much did I spend to reach the place?
A liter of diesel for our motorcycle and an entrance fee of P55 (1 USD) for adults and P20 (nearly half of 1 USD) for kids. Cheaper than you think, right? Yes. In our province, the cost of living is a bit lower than in other provinces. The perks of living in Zamboanga Peninsula include the abundance of seafood and crops.
What are the things we can do at the resort?
Obviously, yes, you can swim all you want in the clear, turquoise, cold water until you get pruned fingers and toes.
If you want to do a diving adventure, sure you can. There are diving rocks where you can perform your best dive. You will land yourself in the deep, cold water in the large pool. Kids have their pool too, safer, shallower, and they are free to move their little feet and hands.
Want some slides and splashes? Yes, you can! The resort has numerous slides you can enjoy and have a sliding adventure with your friends and family.
If you are still in the process of contemplating whether you have that very cold dip or not, you are given enough time, sit in the mushroom cottage, or walk around the area and stun yourself with the breathtaking scenery around the resort. Towering century-old trees of different species, water drops and falls from the roots of those trees through the rocks down to the little stream, and more.
Kayak adventure? Sure! One of the most interesting features of Mabanag Spring Resort is its Kayak. On one side the the place has a lake-like water where you will have fun rowing your boat under the lush greens, birds chirping, butterflies dancing from bloom to bloom, and blue skies.
One more thing, if you want to stay in the resort for an overnight adventure with nature, yes, you can too! The resort can cater to your needs, from food to the overnight rooms and a house suited to your preferences. A single room, a couple rooms, and family rooms are available. If you want a home-like comfort, there are houses where you can cook, have a movie marathon, and have a deep, goodnight sleep with birds and water splashes as your lullabies. They also cater to big events in their event halls.
I only spent a liter of diesel and a few pesos, but I gained peace, joy, and memories that surely last far longer. If you find yourself in Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur, don't think twice, dip your feet in Mabanag Spring. You won't regret it. It's more than just a destination, it's a reminder of how beautiful simplicity can be.
