Ayvalık and Cunda Island: The Meeting Point of History and Nature

Hello Friends. I continue my enjoyable trip in the Aegean Region without slowing down. After Manisa, this time I turned my route to the Ayvalık district of Balıkesir and set out to explore the fascinating Cunda Island here. Even though it is October, it is still possible to see traces of summer in Ayvalık. Especially while walking around Cunda, coming across people still swimming in the sea, despite the water being a bit cold, reminded me once again how attractive this beautiful region is.

Starting the Trip in Ayvalık
Touring the center of Ayvalık was a nice start to feel its historical texture and the unique atmosphere of the Aegean. Ayvalık has a unique peace with its stone streets, restaurants where the smell of olive oil dishes emanates and fishing boats lined up in the harbor. This cute district, where a different story is hidden in every corner, has many beauties to be discovered.

After Ayvalık, I turned my direction to Cunda Island. Cunda is known as one of the quiet and cute corners of the Aegean. With its old Greek houses, narrow streets and stone pavements, this island, which smells of history, makes you feel the traces of the past when you take a step. It is impossible not to be amazed by the architecture of the stone houses and the flowers hanging on the doors while walking on its streets.

One of the moments when I felt the spirit of Cunda the best was when I climbed to the hills of the island and watched Ayvalık and the Aegean Sea with a magnificent view. The view formed by the reflection of the colors around the island on the sea towards sunset was truly worth seeing. Immortalizing these moments with my camera was one of the most enjoyable moments of this trip.

Cunda in October: Cool But Still Lively
Coming to Cunda in October offers a calmer atmosphere, away from the crowds of summer. However, despite this calmness, seeing people still swimming in the sea on the island shows that this place attracts visitors at all times of the year. Although the water was a little cool, watching people swimming in the clear waters of the Aegean made you feel the warmth of summer a little. This energetic and peaceful atmosphere of Cunda adds a different beauty to the island.

I didn't realize how time passed during my time on Cunda Island. It was a great pleasure to sit in the small cafes of the island, sip coffee, walk along the coast and explore every corner. It is impossible not to be enchanted by the streets, historical churches and wonderful views of Cunda. This place is a perfect escape for both those who love to explore and those who seek serenity.

It is Hard to Leave Cunda
My trip to Ayvalık and Cunda Island was one of the unforgettable stops of my journey in the Aegean Region. Walking around the historical streets of Cunda and experiencing this beautiful atmosphere brought the past and the present together. If you happen to be in the Aegean, I definitely recommend adding Ayvalık and Cunda Island to your travel list!
