A man who doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man.”
Don Vito Corleone - Godfather
All of us can relate to when I say mist of our time and energy gets consumed by our daily work and profession and sometimes we forget to give time to our families that they actually deserve. Even living in the same house, sometimes doesn't feel like living together and we grow distant over time. That's how a life of a man is. You see, I'm not discriminating between the genders but if you pick up historical books, you'd find it's usually the men who neglect their families due to extra responsibilities. Work burdened on their backs, commitments, feeding your family and all these stuff need a real man to balance between.
When you enter the professional life, you usually only have the weekend to give time to your friends and family. Even on these two days, you've so much pending work on your shoulders, you hardly manage to do it all. But that's lfe my friend. That is exactly what everyone is going through. The journey between trying and achieving and since we're all in the same boat, how about we enjoy the journey and worrying about the destination. I'm sure, we'll hit the shore someday.
It was early morning on the weekend when my friends called me for breakfast. It had been months since I last spent time with them, so I decided to go.
One of them is a lawyer, an accountant and one is stuck in corporate life. So, you get the idea all four of us only have the weekend to spend time with each other. I was having breakfast with them on a dhaaba(a roadside restaurant) when I received a call from my dad. This is how the conversation took place.
Dad: where are you?
Me: with my friends
Dad: we're coming in 10 minutes, do you want any stuff from home? Going on a Roadtrip to Hyderabad.
Me: ummm, ok sure.
In case you're wondering, Hyderabad is a neighboring city located 150 kms away.
I informed my friends about this conversation, they complained at first but agreed as we all know family comes first. My dad, alongside my family came in 10 minutes, picked me up and we started our journey towards Hyderabad. There was no specific plan, nothing decided on what we're about to do in Hyderabad, no relatives there, just a spontaneous Roadtrip to an unknown city, with an intention of enjoying the journey.
We reached the Toll Plaza in about 20 minutes from where Hyderabad is located 154 kms away. The cars passing through the toll plaza are charged for driving on the Highway. We have to pass a security checkpoint and after that all the rules of Highway apply on the travellers.
The first stop that we took was in the middle of nowhere. It was an abandoned Gas station with a very ancient shop there. Since nothiywas preplanned we didn't have any snacks for this journey. The stop came after an hour of traveling. From this shop we bought refreshments for the journey, took some pictures and continued on the journey once again.
I decided to post this picture here as it gives me such soothing vibes. Have you seen Hollywood movies where they show you a scene of going through empty roads in the US or in Mexico, where all you can see is emptiness and just a few trucks passing through. This is exactly what I thought looking at this picture. A calm, mellow vibe.
Anyway, we carried on with our journey and decided we won't be stopping now before we reach our destination. But wait, what was our destination? Where were we headed? There wasn't any destination, we were just going where the road took us and that's exactly the best part of this Roadtrip.
After a good 45 minutes, we saw a board indicating, For Kotri Barrage, Turn Left. Where were we headed? Hyderabad, right? Where should we have gone? Straight? What did we do? Turned left. We turned left towards this unknown place going by the name of Kotri Barrage. Reaching there we came to realize that this was an actual tourist spot and a lot of people were there for sightseeing of this magnanimous barrage. For those who don't know, a barrage is a huge barrier in middle of a river to stop water in order to prevent flooding, help in irrigation and stuff.
I was amazed to see the kind of arrangements there for the tourist. Multiple food stalls, horse riding facilities, information about the barrage, a bridge for sight seeing and lots of more stuff. Let's look at all of these things below.
It was beautiful there. The thing I love the most about my country is in tourists spots like these, you'll see huge families all together enjoying the scenery. There are literally tens of people in a single family, including the children of all age just having the time of their lives together. One more thing that I'd like to point out is the cruelty animals have to go through just for the entertainment of humans. Look at the poor horse. He looks devastated from all the abuse he probably might have been going through since he's been born. I know there's nothing I can do on a mass level but on an individual level I do whatever I can. I refuse to take rides of animals like these. They deserve to have a life of their own. Not meant to be running around on jard concrete roads for leisure activities.
Anyway, I was at the Kotri Barrage, when I heard to call to prayers. I went to the nearby mosque, freshened up, offered my prayers and we continued our journey to Hyderabad.
In about an hour we reached Hyderabad and it was starting to get dark already. As I mentioned we didn't have any specific plan in there. All we had heard about Hyderabad was their great fish. We wanted to try their best fish from the best eatery. For that we visited a couple of renowned restaurants and finally decided to have a go at one of the most famous ones. It was named Haveli.
We took recommendations from the waitwr and he recommended us a couple of different fish options. Since my youngest brother doesn't like fish we had to order a chicken dish as well. It took around 45 minutes to have our food on the table. The food indeed was delicious. The fish was so tasty and soft, it melted smoothly as soon as I took it inside my mouth.
Once we were done with our food, we got back in car and started our journey back to our hometown. It was late at night and we were kinda scared as well traveling at this hour. It took us considerably a shorter period of time to get back since there wasn't much traffic on our way and with this my roadtrip ended.

Looks like a fun trip. Family comes first indeed but good friends are not so far behind, my own experience as my nomadic lifestyle has really tought me to appreciate my good old friends who are always there for me, no matter how long we haven´t seen each other because of my travels...
Btw I´m really glad about that mention of the animal abuse. As a devoted nature lover and animal rights advocate, this is something I really hate about traveling. So many tourist attractions are still based on animal abuse in various forms :( Thanks for realizing it and not supporting it. So important...
I was going to drop some TipU votes here but I can see someone already beat me to it so I will send it to some other post by you ;)
I read a beautiful quote a long time ago which stated that if you really want to know someone, travel with them. During traveling you have to compromise on a lot of things such as your sleep, comfort, food etc and during this time you can judge the nature of a person, whether he/she is adjustable, comprising etc or not. Traveling really has given me a lot of good friends as well. Personally, I like to travel with the boys. No, I'm not discriminating but it's just that traveling with boys gives us a kind of a free hand. We can travel on a very low budget, compromise more, stay in dirty huts and camps, and be quick on the journey xD
I know right. People tend to enjoy watching animals getting hurt and used for their entertainment. I can never endorse that.
Thank you for being so considerate:))

It might look scary but it's completely harmless..
No matter how harmless a snake is, they are all scary to me.
I mean I'm afraid seeing any kind of snake.
