Hello everyone..have a nice day to you all.. we live on an island called guimaras island... Guimaras used to be a part of iloilo, but on may 22 1992 if officially separated from iloilo and became a province with its own local government.. this is why the manggahan festival is celebrated in the month of may as it also mark that the province independence... The entire province cover five municipalities. Jordan, buenavista, san lorenzo, sibunag and nueva valencia.. even though guimaras is already separated from iloilo but most college students still study there.. even though there are already college here in guimaras almost everyone still chooses to study at the big universities in iloilo.. as for the mode of transportation, there are roro or (roll on roll off)for the vessels, while fiber boats are used for people..

Before the switch to fiber boats, people used to ride in pump boat to cross between iloilo and guimaras, this change because of a tragedy where two pumbo cap size, unable to withstand the massive waves, which resulted in the loss lives of almost all the passengers on board.. pump boat where quite small and made only on plywood and wood.. because of that accident the local government of guimaras was deeply shaken and decided to replace all pumpboats into fiber boats.. at the first, the pump boat owners didn't agree because buying a fiber boat was too expensive for them.. however the local government assisted them, and since the owner themselves were also traumatized by the tragedy, they didn't want it to ever happen again in the future,

If you are coming from iloilo and crossing over to guimaras, you will see a large guimaras sign on the mountain.

Nowadays even though fiber boats are now used to cross between iloilo and guimaras, the coast guard immediately suspended trips when the weather is bad, when the waves are large only the bigger fiber boats are allowed to travel, however when the rain and wind become too strong all sea travel between guimaras and iloilo is completely suspended, because they never want that tragic disaster of the past to happen again..

And i think that's all for now hope you like my photos..
