The Wave
Shored up memories...
Released untamed.
Bubbles clinging,
At the water's edge.
Lingering...
Sparkling in the twilight.
.
One by One...
They always burst.
.
Toes scrunched,
Heels taking flight.
I test the waters.
Ebb.
Flow.
Ebb.
Flow.
The cold allure
Distracts.
Then...
Flailing,
I Fall.
Effervescent
turbulence.
Salty.
Crushing.
I lose myself in the spray.
Which way is up?
Which way is down?
I don't know anymore.
Do I panic,
or surrender?
Fight,
Or ride the wave?

What inspired you to write this piece my friend?
Thank you for taking the time to give a considered read of my poetic thoughts @jin-out. My inspiration? A milieu of life's touchpoints for me this past week, more lows than highs, a friend's post, processing past memories, broken trust, and this:
Somedays people, places, things challenge us to a point almost beyond our capabilities to endure. They provoke an unearthing of long-buried memories ...and deep introspection. I find poetry a catharsis.
I'm riding the wave...🙏
Ahh, so you're going through some emotional turmoil.
I was going through some of that the other day, mainly partly because of the gloomy weather in the West Midlands, where I'm at. I went to my local reservoir, as the day happened to be very stunning, and was healed by the Waters. I did a video on this, check it out if you have time.

Nice rhythm! I like the syncopes that come so naturally and yet fill in the senses in your poetry.
They must come naturally, for I just write😊. I do tidy afterward but I like to write in a way that mirrors not just my thoughts but the way in which they are forming too, and if I can align that with imagery that paints the picture at the same time, I do ;-) (I had to look up syncope in the dictionary; that's a new word for me🙏)

Wonderful poem with a great rhythm. What I like about the rhythm is that it's very see-sawing like the waves. So I almost feel like I'm floating in the rhythmic waves of the verses.
Hi, @samsmith1971, nice to meet you here! It's been a while since I've posted or read on Blockchain Poets, and today I come across a bunch of great poems. I really liked the sound of your poem, and the atmosphere you are gradually creating. I think it's going to take me a long time to get the sound of "ebb flow ebb flow" out of my head!
Thank you my friend @agreste... we can credit another Hiver for putting those words into my head in the first place a few weeks back. She knows who she is ;-) As you can see, they hang around a good while, but eventually we give them new life ourselves❣️ I haven't written poetry in a while but when the urge takes me and guides me, I write. I do read quite a bit of poetry on Hive, so perhaps if the energy is flowing today in that sphere, I should go and check them out. Thank you for the tip🙏

Very nice poem, in the sea everything is tastier, I always love walking between the border of the sea and the sand when I'm at the beach, it's something relaxing, regards ♥
isn't it just? 💖 The cold wet sand squishing between the toes, like meditation for the feet lol, whilst the waters lap at your feet and waves crash in the background.

Starting my day with this one, it's apt for the heavy winds blowing a gale outside against the roof. Feeling similar lately, although it's the quieter waves against the shore from where I'm sitting. Introspection indeedy.
