Shadows in the Night

The night went silent, the air dry
Save the chirping of crickets and the croaking of toads
In the shadows they lurk
Hunting for a prey wandering in the dark

They visit the lone house, in search for the weak
It haunts in the dark while they sleep
In the shadows they walk , in the dark they wait
Waiting for the moment of fear

Screams filled the void room
No one to save you in the dark
It lurk in the shadows
To steal that which was never his.

Evil lurk, it breaths heavily
From corner to corner it hides in the haunted house
Waiting for your guilt to judge
Then strikes before it's dawn.

Love how this poem can be of ghosts and also of our innermost voices speaking at odd hours; to haunt us or recall us to submission of our woes. I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for writing.
