The Leap
Four friends took a short ride in a boat. It was part of those weekend routines where they hang out and catch some fun. Among them was Derrick, who had always wanted to take the daring step of jumping into the sea. He had bragged a few times about how good he was at swimming, but swimming in the sea was something he needed to be brave to do.
On this fateful day, while they went out for their usual ride, they saw a Dock approaching. Patiently, they waited and climbed on it. One of them had planned it out, hoping to have a large space where they could view the sea and feel the cool breeze from it. Derrick saw it as an opportunity to explore his fantasy.
He excused the other boys and went to the edge of the Dock, then jumped into the sea. It was after the friends heard the sound of the splash that they noticed Derrick had taken the brave leap to dive into the sea. They hurried to the area where he had jumped to ensure he was fine, and when they were sure he was doing well, they watched him for a few minutes, then went to the other side of the Dock. Occasionally, Derrick swam toward them until it was dusk and time to go home. This day remained one of the best experiences for Derrick hanging out with his friends.
