Echoes In The Empty Chairs

In the large conference hall were rows upon rows of identical desks and chairs. The junior students had arranged them neatly on a vast neutral floor. The atmosphere already had the noise of rustling papers, the nervous stares and the focus of scratching pens as students grappled with questions that hold most importance for them. Julius stood outside admiring the overall decoration, but worried rest on his face seeing the spacing between chairs. Unlike his school's examination hall where he could communicate with his friend for answers, this looked different, and this made him wonder if he was prepared enough for the final examination.

Each desk to Julius looked like a temporary island of intense concentration, a stage for personal challenge and triumph. His ace was still hooked in the hall when the examiner and supervisors came in holding a brown large envelope believed to contain their question papers. His heart started to beat fast, he had never sat for a board exam and this made him wonder how tough the questions would seem , whether the questions were going to be easy or hard as his friends had told him earlier. He waved the thoughts off and decided he was going to face it with his head up.
