A few months ago, during the campaigns
It was all promises
Yes, promises and fanfare
I will build good roads
I will build good hospitals
I will build good schools
And so, the votes came

In their numbers, they came
To make them successful
And give them the victory they needed
But here we are again,
Singing that old song
Looking as if nobody promised
Looking as if we were betrayed
But yet, they truly promised
Oh, yes, they promised that things would be well
Just a few months after the dust settled
After they assumed offices
