Ivory Tower : Daily Freewrite Writing Prompt

The lecturer passed again, looking frustrated and frantically searching for someone in the dean's department. Meanwhile, I was patiently waiting for her at the reception as she requested.
The third time, she met Professor Udeme, and the following conversation ensued:

Lecturer: Where is Prof? she asked
Prof. Joe: responded with a wide grin on his face, which of the Profs?

Lecturer: Oh, she reverted, of course, Prof. Dan
Prof. Joe: That one? Prof. Dan is in his Ivory Tower

Lecturer: You don’t mean it, tell me something
Pro. Joe: He has been working on a project and has embarked on a sabbatical leave to enable him to focus on that project.

Lecture: Oh, again? How long would he want to push this project?
Prof. Joe: at least to a logical end.

Prof. Joe: If Prof. Dan succeeds in this project, it will be one of its kind in Africa
Lecturer: Yes, certainly, Prof. Dan is an intellectual. I know the stuff he is made of.

Sitting at the reception, that word, “Ivory Tower”, tickled my fancy.
Immediately, I brought my phone and googled the meaning. That was when I learnt that it is a state of personal withdrawal from distractions by intellectuals to focus on important projects. This might be research, inventions by scientists or even a new movie script by artists. It can also be negatively inclined when those projects do not have the envisaged impacts.

There and then, the word “Ivory Tower” was added to my portfolio of newfound words.
