Applaud Me,Favour Requested

I had a niece who studied at a mission school; she is brilliant and creative. While at the school, she won several awards, including best in English, Literature and other subjects. She was also the head girl in high school. Her level of comprehension also earned her awards in external competitions as well as the church.

On her graduation, she was informed that she would be the one to present the valedictorian address. Favour prepared herself for the event and was happily waiting for D-Day. Her parents bought new clothes, while she also received a graduation gown from her school in readiness for the event.

On that fateful day, Favour mounted the stage and started delivering the speech. The auditorium was as silent as a graveyard. She was enjoying the ride as well as the silence of the crowd, who kept quiet and listened with apt attention to her speech. This continued until she realised that she was about to conclude the speech, but without applause.

Favour abruptly stopped and started shouting, applaud me, applaud me, appreciate me, appreciate meoo.

There was tumultuous laughter, and instantly, the crowd moved towards her, showering her with money for a job well done. Others who could not shower her with money continued to applaud her until she fully delivered her speech.

So Favour reminded her guests to applaud her before they did, and when they did, it was golden.
