Have a wonderful day or evening everyone!!
As an avid fan of Studio Ghibli movies, I'm going to share another one that I'm in love with: "From Up on Poppy Hill."
The story is about Matsuzaki Umi, whose family own a boarding house called Coquelicot Manor on top of a hill. She usually manages the house by doing tasks like preparing meals for her boarders.
Umi is also a student at high school. Her school is facing a crisis involving the possible demolition of the old clubhouse. A lot of students from her school are against it, so they're working hard to prevent it.
As Umi was helping the newspaper club, she met Shun, whom she ended up falling in love with. However, as both of them try to discover Shun's past, they find information involving or connecting both of them.
Unlike other Studio Ghibli films that I've watched and enjoyed because of a fantastic and magical story, this one is totally different, it is nevertheless marvelous in its own evocative or nostalgic and subtle way. It's like a realistic story, a story we usually hear from our old folks way back in the 1960s. This film is light-hearted, feel-good and heartwarming.
The story did not only focus on the love story between Umi and Shun, but also on the perseverance and the unity of the students in saving their school clubhouse, led by Umi, Shun, along with Shiro Mizuma, their class president.
I must say Umi and Shun's love was innocent and pure. I love how they flourished their feelings despite the possibility that they are siblings from the paternal side. It was so touching every time Umi raised a flag signal as a daily ritual in memory of his deceased father, who was a sea captain.
The flags symbolize the love and honor for his father with the message that goes, "I wish you a pleasant journey". Shun saw it and read the message, and later on published a poem in their school regarding the flags.
As the movie continued, I had these questions in mind: Are they real siblings, and will they just continue their relationship as good friends? On the other hand, will they succeed in their ultimate goal of stopping the demolition of the school clubhouse?
I'm glad to have all the answers, but I can not reveal them here. However, I must suggest you watch this film. I'm pretty sure that you will love everything about this film, especially the essence of youth and being carefree in a good and positive way.
The songs were absolutely beautiful, and the setting and cinematography were amazing. The visuals are artistically and emotionally wonderful. The characters did their role so well, overall it's excellent.
I even rewatched this for the third time, and every time I watch it, it always has the same impact and excitement as I've watched it for the very first time.
This is one of my top favorites from Studio Ghibli. It's really a must-watch, and this is suited for both young and adults. We can also get some moral lessons from this movie. It's really wonderful. ๐โค
That would be all for today, and see you around.

se ve encantadora, gracias por la recomendaciรณn!
looks lovely, thanks for the recommendation!
You're welcome...๐
Yes, it's indeed a beautiful and lovely film.
From what you say, it sounds super interesting and different from other Ghibli films that are more fantasy, right? I'm curious that it's a more realistic story, set in the 60s. I'm definitely writing that one down. If you say it's so emotional, with good music and visually cute, it's worth it for sure. thanks for the very detailed recommendation!
