I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 7 years now. Although there are many challenges, I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ’šβš‘πŸ’₯πŸ”₯βœ΄οΈβœ³οΈβ‡οΈπŸ‘£πŸŒ±βœ¨πŸ€™

Warm greetings all! πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ’šβœ¨πŸ€™

Today I wanted to go a bit more deeply into the still-very-new Hermes (AI) Agent, which was only released on February 26,2026, and which in that time has been developed, and garnered attention, extremely quickly, with over 132,000 stars, and rising, on Github. It's free, and open source under the MIT license, with a very-easy installation and setup on Linux, MacOS, Windows, and even in Android, as well as a huge degree of configuration flexibility. It learns, remembers, and self-improves over time, as it accomplishes tasks, creating new skills on the fly as the situation requires. It's like OpenClaw, but far simpler and easier to set up, and from my personal perspective, far better.

Given how new Hermes is, I was shocked too see the large number of videos and articles about it already. I've only been working with it for about 4 days now, and it's one of the most incredible software implementations that I've ever seen, and with its very-rapid development cycle, it's getting better with every new iteration. When I said that the pace of development in AI-tech is faster than in any other tech domain in which I've had experience, I mean it. We're talking days or weeks, not months or years.

Hermes can be used with both assorted paid cloud-based AI models, or those running from local machines, and it works with a great number of model inference engines, both cloud-based and locally-installed, so it's an exceedingly flexible framework, while at the same time being amazingly simple and easy to use. It's truly an extraordinary piece of software, and it's very much got my rapt attention.

Hermes can work as one individual agent, that handles all tasks, or it can be set up with an orchestraror-workers topology, where one top-level supervisor agent interacts with the user, and delegates tasks to different specialized agents, to collaborate and accomplish a particular goal. The orchestraror-workers dynamic is what I want to build, though I'm still assertaining whether that is practically feasible on my laptop. One AI model operating at a time is fine on my system, running more than one simulataneously gets a bit more challenging, however, due to hardware-resource constraints. I do pretty well, though, even with my modest setup.

I've begun to read every bit of the official documentation on Hermes, and to assess everything that I can find that describes people's experiences using and setting it up. I want to learn how to use it well, and to its full potential, on my laptop, and although I do have hardware constraints, what is possible is still quite mind blowing indeed. If you're interested in exploring Hermes, and would like to give it a try, I suggest heading over to their Github page, to their main website, and if you want to get an idea of the sorts of skills that are available to Hermes, go take a peek at their SkillHub Wiki. This is the kind of technology that changes everything.

Yesterday, Monday, I left the Flow House, after finishing up my Hive-Blurt-'We Are Alive Tribe' tasks, and working a bit more with Hermes, very late again, by around 3:45PM, giving my attention first to some photography for my posts, and to a few small jungle-community tasks. Once those were completed, I took a quick break up at the Flow House, before heading across the property, to assist Melekai and Østein to move and position lava rocks, some of them huge, around Melekai's new pond. Ano helped in moving and positioning a particularly massive lava boulder. After wrapping that up, I traversed the property again to take a shower, make myself some food in Wabisabi, collect my jar of leftover superfood fire coffee, and finally to head back to the Flow House, to work a little more with Hermes, and to begin my evening Hive tasks. I got through all of my notifications by about 11:30PM, and for the first time in ages, I skipped asset management, worked with Hermes a bit more, then I went to bed super late, by around 1AM. I woke up by about 6:15AM, having slept reasonably well, working with Hermes, doing more AI research, going to make my superfood fire coffee in Wabisabi, then returning to the Flow House to watch a few YouTube videos on Hermes, and to write this post. It's now just after 1:45PM, so it's a great time to wrap this up, so that I may attend to my few other important Hive-Blurt-'We Are Alive Tribe' tasks, before leaving the Flow House a little later in the afternoon, to focus first on some photography for my posts, and then on jungle-community/land work and tasks. I deeply appreciate y'all so very much! Until my very-late goals-and-progress update later this evening, and the next manifestation of these posts tomorrow! Always forward, onward, upward, and whaleward, ho, together we go! πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ’šβœ¨πŸ€™

2026 Life Goals

1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.

2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.

3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.

4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.

This is our collaboratively shared Witness node between the We Are Alive Tribe, and @borniet's and my MMB (Maximum Mutual Benefit) Project, here to build something good for all of us! The higher in the witness ranking we go, the more that we'll be able to grow the We Are Alive Tribe, and the more that we'll be able to share with all of you!
