I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 7 years now. Although there are many challenges, I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ’šβš‘πŸ’₯πŸ”₯βœ΄οΈβœ³οΈβ‡οΈπŸ‘£πŸŒ±βœ¨πŸ€™

Warm greetings all! πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ’šβœ¨πŸ€™

I've had a deep fascination for operating systems in general, and FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software) operating systems specifically, especially Linux and the BSDs, for many years now, and for a whole host of reasons, ranging from the ability to mold and craft an operating system into exactly what I want, having complete control over my hardware and software environments, and the ability to make full use of my hardware's capabilities and potential. I was hacking Windows 98 before getting into hacking and modding my Android phones, which is what ended up finally leading me to explore Linux, via Ubuntu, so many years ago.

Once I got a feel for the power and freedom available in Linux, there was no going back for me, and I soon happily abandoned Windows. While I did try out and explore a few other Linux distributions at the time, I ended up staying with Ubuntu for about 6 years, because it had all the software that I needed, and it allowed me to set up and configure a new system to meet my needs very quickly. I was always tempted by Linux distributions that did things very differently, however, such as the rolling-release models of Arch Linux and Gentoo, where the system and software is just always up to date, with no versions or point releases. That deeply intrigued me.

Before I became comfortable with installing an operating system using only the command line, which is Arch Linux's default method of installation, I cheated a bit the first time and ended up using the Antergos Linux (which was based on Arch Linux) graphical installer, which gave me a fully-functional Arch Linux system with a preconfigured graphical desktop environment. While that was very helpful, once I dove under the hood into exploring what was possible in Arch Linux, and what I could do using its software framework, I was instantly hooked by Arch's simplicity, flexibility, and efficiency, and I dove in hook, line, and sinker, in a very similar way to what happened when I discovered Hive.

I fell in love with Arch, and I've been using it for over 8.5 years now, with all three of my original Arch installations still working perfectly, after having been migrated across many computers, hard drives, and now SSDs. In Arch, I can install most software using the regular binary packages from the official and the unofficial community repositories, as well as having the ability to build software from source using the AUR (Arch User Repository), and to my own exact specifications, compiled for my specific hardware, which makes it possible to use that hardware to its maximum potential. That's really quite hard to beat.

From my perspective, Arch provided the best balance of DIY (Do It Yourself), which provided full control, and automation, which made various things quite convenient. That's still true, though with the growing divide in the FOSS, Linux, and BSD communities over the implementation of age and identity-verification at the OS level, and the stances that various projects are taking in that regard, I'm now feeling a strong pull to align myself with an Arch-based (since the framework is still excellent) project with much more of a focus on freedom and sovereignty, which is why I'll soon be converting my three separate Arch Linux installations into Artix soon, so that I will still be able to make use of Arch's incredible software framework, just without the suicidal woke lefty nonsense that's infiltrated and twisted so many Linux distros as of late. Although I haven't made the switch yet, I'm loving what I'm learning so far about the Artix Linux project, developers, and community, so I don't think that this jump will be far off.

Yesterday, Saturday, I left the Flow House, after finishing up my Hive-Blurt-'We Are Alive Tribe' tasks, by a little after 2:30PM, giving my attention first to some photography for my posts, and then to a few small jungle-community tasks, after which I took a quick asset-management up at the Flow House, before going to chop and dump bad/used coconuts at the upper coco bar, and to tidy up the area a tad, and going on a banana hunt around the property, in search of harvestable bananas (I didn't find any). With those completed, I made a quick food-supply run to Tutu's to restock Wabisabi, then I walked around with Ano for short while to go over projects on which to work. Once we wrapped that up, I went to Wabisabi to make myself some food (grilled cheese, on olive-oil-toasted sourdough, with pepperjack and aged cheddar cheese, hot sauce, and spicy brown mustard), and with that and my jar of leftover superfood fire coffee in hands, I headed back to the Flow House to begin my evening Hive tasks. I got everything done by just after 9PM, and after some asset management, and scanning my X feed, I went to bed by about 11:45PM. I woke up by just after 7:30AM, having slept fairly well, going to prepare my superfood fire coffee in Wabisabi, then returning to the Flow House to write this post. It's now just after 1:15PM, so it's a lovely time to wrap this up, so that I may attend to my numerous Sunday Hive-Blurt-'We Are Alive Tribe' tasks, before leaving the Flow House a little later in the afternoon, to focus first on some photography for my posts, and then on a few small jungle-community tasks. I deeply appreciate y'all so very much! Until my goals-and-progress update (hopefully) tomorrow morning, and next edition of these posts tomorrow afternoon! Always forward, onward, upward, and whaleward, ho, together we go! πŸ˜πŸ™πŸ’šβœ¨πŸ€™

2026 Life Goals

1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.

2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.

3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.

4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.
