Hi, there! How are you? I hope that you are doing great. Welcome to my post. In this post, you will find
There are two widely used Blood Group systems:
But there are other blood group systems as well!
In any of the systems, we look for the presence or absence of Antigen on the RBCs of a person. In the ABO system, there are two antigens- Antigen A and Antigen B. In the Rh system, we search for the RhD antigen.
But there are other Rh antigens. There are more than 50 Rh antigens!
Currently, we combine both systems to determine a person's blood group. A person's blood group falls into one of the eight:
Golden Blood indicates a rare type of blood group where there are no Rh antigens at all, not only the famous RhD antigen, but all the other Rh antigens are also absent! Hence, it is also called Rh null blood!
The term Golden doesn't indicate that it's some noble kind of blood. It only signifies its rarity! So far, only 43 people have been reported to have this rare type of blood!
Having this golden blood puts the people in a dangerous situation if they need a blood transfusion. They can't get a blood transfusion from anyone, not even from an O-negative person!
If you want to learn more about this topic, read this Cleveland Clinic article!
On Saturday, I worked as a relieving doctor in another clinic. It was a super-easy day at work where I consulted only 10+ patients. There was no emergency case!
At home, I couldn't walk on the treadmill. However, I could make 6,311 steps! I had a short afternoon nap!
On my way back home from that clinic, I went to Lulu Hypermarket to purchase some necessary items. I spent a little over 10 OMR there!
Okay. That's all for today. Alhamdulillah, I am alive, healthy, and thriving. How about you?
Wahoo, reading others post can be so helpful. Thank you doctor for this post, the explanation of a person's blood group is simply to understand, have learnt something new today but please, I do heard people say that there AC blood group, is it true?
Glad to hear that you found it informative and learned something!
I don't know any such blood group called AC!!! Where did you hear that?

It is not necessary that every rare thing is gold. Perhaps it has been named Golden so that those who have such blood feel a little better just by hearing the name.
Exactly! This rare group is not something someone should desire for that! Better to not have such rare type!
Thanks for stopping by, brother!

I guess it's not good to have that rare type, right?

Hmm. Not good at all! It will be difficult or near-impossible for them to get blood if needed anytime!
Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you for the helpful tip on golden blood. 😉 I sure learned a lot today. Funny, how when I hear golden these days, I remember the song from KPop Demon Hunters movie. 😅
Hooray for easy working days! Have a productive week, Doc 🎉

That was an interesting read about blood types. I never heard of golden blood.
I do not know what my type is, but I know I am RH negative and had to have a special shot after childbirth.
