Well, I can tell you that most of the governments forgot about that principle :-)
Currently we have (and pay) two governments in Belgium, the old one, and a new that is being formed after the elections. The formation of this new government isn't going all too well, but they are already being paid. As is the old government still. And in both governments are quite some people that have been involved in criminal activities at least once :-)
A bit more transparency and loyalty to the people wouldn't hurt !INDEED :-D

If they didn't forget it, they willfully ignore the desire and will of the people, and even work counter to their best interests. Yipes, that sounds like a pretty wild situation.
