There are some things you believed as a child that, when you remember them now, you just wonder:“Who even told me this nonsense?” and just laugh about it.

Growing up, my mom used to tell us that whenever it was raining and the sun was shining at the same time, it means that the lioness has given birth near the African oil bean tree.
And guess what?I believed it. Completely.I even find myself smiling when it's sunny in the rain because a supposed lioness has given birth near the African oil bean tree.No questions. No doubts. My little brain simply accepted it as one of those important facts about life.
Anytime rain started falling while the sun was still shining, I would probably be somewhere imagining a lioness with her cubs under an African oil bean tree.
As I grew older, I eventually learned the actual explanation. And that the it actually has a name; it's called 'sunshower'.
Scientifically, it happens when rain falls from a cloud while the sun is still visible, often because the rain cloud is nearby rather than directly blocking the sun.And yes, that childhood belief about the lion giving birth is a very familiar African folklore explanation for a sunshower.
But, you know, there are some childhood excitements that doesn't leave you totally.
Well, in my case, though it's. I still find myself running outside to check the sky whenever it's sunny and rainy at the same time. But this time around, not with the believe that a lioness has given birth near the African oil bean tree.
But, with the intent of checking the sky to see wether a rainbow. And somehow, my two kids always follow me out to check.
Luckily for us, we saw a rainbow last Sunday after a long wait.
