Cemetery route [ENG-PT/BR]

INTRO

I never tire of saying that HIVE is full of surprises. We are always discovering new things, such as this newly created community.

Cemeteries are a popular subject for photographers, and not only them. Tourists also enjoy visiting them. There is an organization called the European Cemeteries Route that publicizes and promotes cemetery tourism.

More and more people are seeking to admire history, architecture, art, and heritage in the peaceful setting of a cemetery. Aware of this, this organization is made up of various members who exchange synergies with the aim of opening cemeteries to tourists.

They organize various activities in these authentic open-air museums, including music performances, poetry recitals, theater, guided tours, exhibitions, and more.

MY FIRST ROUTE

These photographs I am sharing with you are of the Santo António dos Olivais cemetery in Coimbra (Portugal). It is one of two cemeteries in the city.

I know this cemetery well because some of my family members who have passed away are buried here. The last one was my beloved father in 2019.

For the first three years, until 2022, I visited regularly. At least once a week, I accompanied my mother to do the usual maintenance of the grave: changing the water, flowers, and cleaning. This ritual was part of the grieving process in the immense pain of having “lost” our great family pillar.

Whenever I visited, to minimize the painful state, I tried to capture some of its beauty—if we can use this word in this space where the “carcasses” of our dead dwell.

INTRODUÇÃO
Não me canso de referir que a HIVE é uma caixa de surpresas. Estamos sempre a descobrir coisas novas, como esta comunidade recém criada.

Os cemitérios são um motivo muito procurado por fotógrafos, e não só. Também por turistas. Existe a entidade “European Cemeteries Route” que divulga e promove o turismo em cemitérios.

Existem cada vez mais pessoas que procuram admirar a história, a arquitetura, a arte, a natureza e o património num ambiente tranquilo de um cemitério. Por saber disto, esta entidade é constituída por diversos membros que trocam entre si sinergias com o objetivo de abrir os cemitérios aos turistas.
Organizam diversas atividades nestes autênticos museus ao ar livre; espectáculos de musica, declamação de poesia, teatro, visitas guiadas, exposições, tours, entre outras.

A MINHA PRIMRITA ROTA
Estas fotografias que partilho convosco é sobre o cemitério de Santo António dos Olivais, em Coimbra (Portugal). ﾠ

Um dos dois cemitérios existentes na cidade.

Conheço bem este cemitério porque parte da minha familia que já desencarnou está aqui sepultada. O último foi o meu saudoso pai em 2019.

Nos primeiros três anos, até 2022, frequentei assiduamente. Pelo menos uma vez por semana acompanhei a minha mãe para a habitual manutenção da campa: trocar a água, as flores e limpeza. Este ritual fez parte do processo do luto nesta imensa dor de termos “perdido” o nosso grande pilar familiar.

Sempre que frequentei, para minimizar o estado doloroso, procurei captar alguma da sua beleza - se é que podemos usar esta palavra neste espaço onde habitam aS “carcaçaS” dos nossos mortos.
